The marathon has always come easily to me, which is probably why I often have a take-it-or-leave-it attitude toward training. Thus far, meeting my athletic goals hasn't required an excessive amount of effort. Unfortunately, this means I often take for granted the fact that I can run, stay healthy, set PR's, etc. It also means I slack off way more than I should.
Attempting to qualify for the olympic trials is the first running goal I've ever set that will completely stretch me. Natural ability and a casual approach won't get me a 2:45. It'll take more consistency and attention than I've shown before. And, whether I make it or not, if I truly put in the work it'll likely be one of the most valuable experiences I've ever had. So, here's to a few miles out in the rain (when I'd rather be drinking tea inside...) ☕🏃☔
