Muscle strain - for the past several weeks, I've been on a heavy lifting phase, which, in combination with my hip misalignment, has led to a periodic stinging sensation in my inner thigh, i.e. #muscle strain.

Tips to improve a strain:
• Ice it on and off for 3 days straight after the strain.
• Take an NSAID to reduce inflammation.
• Limit physical activity that can exacerbate the problem.
•Apply compression to the area if you feel you need additional support.

This week, I'm on a deload phase until beginning a new program for the following 6 weeks.

To run or to walk?

Running is the fastest way to burn through #muscle and cause joint damage.

Those looking to add/maintain muscle and remain toned should stick with walking at an incline or HIIT. These 2 forms of #cardio will keep your body from consuming muscle tissue as an energy source while still targeting fat stores.

In essence, humans are meant to walk long distances (to conserve energy) and sprint short distances.
Extensive long-distance running causes glycogen depletion, which leads to the body to consume muscle tissue as an #energy source.

Extensive running also can ultimately lead to problems such as joint damage, muscle/tendon strains and other complications. Seasoned runners tend to be able to mitigate these associated problems with improvements in form, but the average layman should avoid long-distance running as a form of cardio.
