I first met @marfa_capodanno when I moved to the city back in 2002. He was the friendliest of the older guys that I would see around while skating, so friendly that he offered to give me a ride home from Burnham park once when it was getting dark (that skate down 31st was definitely a sketchy one in the evening hours back then). This was back when Burnham was the only skate park in Chicago and I would have to commute by myself via the el/bus for a fucking hour just to get there one way. This was also pre-smart phone days too so I got lost constantly with public transit and would end up in some bad areas of Chicago because I didn't know where the fuck I was going. Shit, I could barely give him proper directions back to my house at the time. I just knew I lived in Logan Square. Why I am I ranting about this? I don't know, but I was grateful for the ride home; still am I guess. 15 years later and I still see Marfa around, he is still friendly, and now shoots sick skate photos like this on a regular basis. Back tail transfer from quarter to wedge at Roberto Clemente. Thanks Marfa!
