The choices you make regarding your health can greatly impact the quality of your life. By 2020, the majority of diseases will be due to people keeping poor habits that are detrimental to their health or not taking adequate preventative measures.
Get plenty of real foods, not processed; if you can do a Netflix marathon, you can do some planks, push-ups or crunches. Change takes time, but it's about the little changes day by day that make the biggest difference in the long run. Always remember that prevention is cheaper than treatment. Reading is always essential for getting started learning any type of subject, but it is not the only way we build our understanding of a topic or skill.

Speaking for myself, I have grown up with learning disabilities that related to language comprehension with attention-related difficulties. Even to this day when I read I have to re-read paragraphs and/or sentences 3-5x over before I fully grasp the concept of a topic. I personally always gravitated towards the visual or kinesthetic perspective in order to learn most effectively.
The more sensory aspects we use to gain understanding, the better we learn anything. We also have to stop putting ourselves in 1 of 2 categories: Street Smart vs. School Smart. This limits our incredible potential of intellect we're capable of.
The theory of multiple intelligences was developed in 1983 by Dr. Howard Gardner, professor of education at Harvard University. It suggests that the traditional notion of intelligence, based on I.Q. testing, is far too limited. Instead, Dr. Gardner proposes eight different intelligences to account for a broader range of human potential in children and adults. These intelligences are:
1) Linguistic intelligence (“word smart”)
2) Logical-mathematical intelligence (“number/reasoning smart”)
3) Spatial intelligence (“picture smart”)
4) Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence (“body smart”)
5) Musical intelligence (“music smart”)
6) Interpersonal intelligence (“people smart”)
7) Intrapersonal intelligence (“self smart”)
8) Naturalist intelligence (“nature smart”)

Eyes are the windows to the soul, and I check eye movements with every patient for that reason - ➡️Maintaining a well-balanced, healthy diet is key to keeping your eyes healthy, and may help reduce your risk for developing eye conditions. Serious eye conditions may be avoided if you include foods that contain a range of vitamins, nutrients, and minerals, known as antioxidants. ➡️These antioxidants ward off oxidants that can affect your health in negative ways.
Your eyes need many types of antioxidants to stay healthy. These include:
* lutein * zeaxanthin
* vitamins A, C, E
* beta-carotene * omega-3 fatty acids
* zinc
Food for thought:
➡️Beta-carotene, a type of vitamin A found in carrots that gives these foods their orange hue, helps the retina and other parts of the eye to function smoothly
➡️leafy greens are packed with lutein and zeaxanthin—antioxidants that, studies show, lower the risk of
developing macular degeneration and cataracts.
Palming is great to relax strained eyes, especially while reading or spending too much time in front of your desktop, laptop or television screen. The main goal of palming is to create a restful state for your eyes so they do not become tired.
1. Sit up straight in a comfortable position.
2. Warm your hands by rubbing them together rapidly.
3. Close your eyes and place your warm palms over them, without applying pressure on the eyelids.
4. Relax and enjoy the darkness for about 30 seconds.
5. Slowly open your eyes and look around.
6. Repeat the process 3 to 5 times at a sitting.
7. Follow this technique frequently throughout the day.

Just finished this book by Mary Frost, M.A. about how much misinformation we have been told about food and health over the last century. She covers everything from the depletion of minerals in our soil, to deforestation, to oils in our diets, to the incredible amount of misinformation we have on heart disease and cholesterol.

She however is a big proponent of not only Standard Process, but a few of the individuals who shaped the analysis and treatment techniques I utilize in the office such as Dr. George Goodheart and Dr. Major DeJarnette.

2. Arms in external rotation while having a close grip on the bar.
3. Make sure you account for your own body weight when placing the plates on the corners. (I used 25 lb plates on each corner, you can try 45 lb plates if you want to be safer; or you can use free dumbbells to secure the step)
4. Turning your toes into each other activates your medial claves more (I chose a neutral/feet parallel stance just to keep it balanced)

In mapping the homunculus, it was shown that 35-40% of the nerves in the body are related to the face and head. An imbalance of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) can have a big impact on it's neurological significance.
The issues surrounding the TMJ can come from a tooth or teeth issue, a jaw opening muscle, and/or a jaw closing muscle. Each tooth has a corresponding muscle association as well.

The TMJ muscles are also on the stomach meridian, meaning that blood-sugar levels (diet) is a big determining aspect of TMJ issues that can arise. Emotional factors also need to be considered as well since stress is a major contributor as well. Vitamin B12 is needed for intrinsic factor in the stomach in many cases as well.
