The Inca Trail isn't all about Machu Picchu πŸ’š #Peru
.
While Machu Picchu may be the magical jewel at the end, there are plenty of views to be seen and memories to be made along the way.

There are many different ways of taking on the 43km of hiking trails - some spread it over 4 days or some (crazy) people do it in a day! However you do it, make sure you leave time to immerse yourself in the beautiful surroundings. This is one of my favourite views along the trail, quite near the end 🚢
What is the best hike you have done? Do you have a favourite?

Route to Rainbow Mountain 🌈 #Peru
.
#tb to magical walks through the colourful Andes mountain range with good friends and no oxygen. I mentioned a while back that the mountains leading up to the iconic Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) are also colourful and picturesque - here is the evidence!

The colours are formed by different layers of sediment rocks like sandstone, halite, gravel, clay and other minerals. The humans are formed by something else, which doesn't happen in my life very often 😜

Farewell University πŸ’™ #UniofSurrey
.
I'm back! I have just finished my final University exams here at the University of Surrey. After weeks of revision where I was staying inside and not socialising, I can finally go back to my usual routine of staying inside and not socialising 😝

I do, however, have an exciting few months of travelling lined up this Summer where I will be visiting 13 wonderful countries. After which I will be starting work (in September), which will require me to move out. I think I am slowly becoming an 'adult' πŸ€”

Happy Sunday! I hope you are all well & have had a fabulous weekend β™₯

Everyone needs more Llama & Alpaca in their life πŸ’š #Peru
.
When visiting Rainbow Mountain, you may bump into llamas and alpacas along the way.
I had a probllama trying to get this one's attention though. He seemed to love eating the grass so much that he didn't even notice I was there. Thankfully he did look up for a spit second and I was able to take this shot 😊 I might have to send him a thank you card for looking up for me, which will of course be llamanated so it lasts longer.

Next time I visit, I think alpaca bag containing all the things a llama loves such as grass and llamanade. This will definitely catch the camelid's attention and, if I had thought about it previously, would have evaded my original probllama and stopped these stupid llama puns from appearing in my caption 😝

Happy Thursday!
Update: I am currently sitting my final University exams (28th May - 8th June). I will be back on the 10th ☺

Perast 🚣 #Montenegro
.
Located just a few km from Kotor, Perast is a picturesque little town with only one main street and a population of under 400 people. It is the perfect place to escape Montenegro's busier towns for a few hours and soak up some more views of the beautiful bay πŸ˜‹

I am currently preparing to take my final University exams (hence the inactivity), which start in 9 days time 😱
I hope you're all well and are looking forward to Summer! Will you be travelling anywhere this Summer?

Happy Sunday! I wish you all the most wonderful week πŸ’™

Rocking out at Rainbow Mountain 🀘 #Peru
.
Rainbow Mountain (aka Vinicunca) sits at an impressive 5,200m above sea level and therefore can often make travellers feel the effects of altitude sickness. This is why I recommend aclimitising before attempting this hike - walk around and climb hills at 3,000/4,000m for a few days prior. Then, in theory, you may only get a slight headache at the top or feel no effects at all. Yay!

The fun game to play at Rainbow Mountain of course is to try to take a picture of the mountain (or your subject) with no other people intruding on your image - I was 90% successful with this one I think 🀷
Do you have patience when taking photos? Or do you just snap and go?

Happy Thursday!

Nyhavn 🚒 #Denmark
.
Nyhavn is one of the most iconic and picturesque places in Copenhagen, with its colourful buildings looking rather dashing all through the day and at night. This is not the perfect image, as the lighting was a little off and the boat moved during the exposure (which is why it's a little blurry). But trying and failing is better than not trying at all! Unless it's a skydive or something πŸ€”

Apologies for the inactivity lately, I have been busy with life. I recently secured a job for after graduation, yay! Now all I need to do is get a car, rent a flat and find a girlfriend... 2 of those will be easy 😝

Happy Tuesday!

Machu Picchu πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ͺ #Peru
.
Another shot (similar to my previous one shh 🀫) of the mesmerising and breaktaking Machu Picchu. This Incan citadel was abandoned around 1572, most likely as a consequence of the Spanish invasion. It wasn't until 1911 that it was rediscovered by the American explorer Hiram Bingham. Bingham's discovery was published in the 1913 issue of the National Geographic magazine, bringing Machu Picchu to the world's attention. Yay!

#tb On the final day of our hike to this place, we woke up at 3:30am. After a small breakfast, we walked for 15 minutes in the dark to reach the hikers gate. We waited in the queue at the gate for just over an hour (it opened at 5:30am). It was then a 1 hour 30 minute walk to the Sun Gate, and finally a 45 minute walk down to this wonderful spot! It is such a rewarding end to a long hike - despite being tired, smelly and inhumanely hungry 😝

Happy Sunday! I wish you all a great week ahead πŸ‘‹

Moraine Lake πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ #Canada
.
The perfect place for contemplation. Well, only if you can contemplate while being surrounded by hundreds of other tourists that is πŸ˜† I waited a little over 5 minutes to snap this one, with just my wonderful friend in frame.

Moraine Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, located in Banff National Park. It has a flawless 5 star/circle (what even are those things?!) rating on TripAdvisor, which is a rare thing nowadays. There's always that one person complaining about how "there was no Wi-Fi at the lake" or "I wasn't served a single drink while canoeing there, terrible service 😠". Do you write reviews? What is the lowest score you have ever given?
.
Happy Thursday to you all!

Colours of the Andes 🌈 #Peru
.
The Andes, which include Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), is one of the world's longest mountain ranges. This path is a little to the right of Vinicunca and takes you through the Red Valley - which is a longer (3 hour) alternative route you can take back, ending in the village of Japura. Not many tour companies take this route though, often going back the same way. But if you're pretty fit and fully aclimitised, this route back is for you! Red mountains galore.

After an incredible trip, I am slowly getting back to my usual routine back at home - staying in, taking zero pictures, travelling nowhere, studying hard, searching for jobs and spending at least 5 minutes of my day longing for a girlfriend 😜
.
Happy Monday! Have a great week everyone πŸ‘‹

Cusco πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ͺ #Peru
.
Cusco sits at 3,400m above sea level and was once the capital of the Inca Empire. The picturesque central square, Plaza de Armas, is abundant with carved overhanging wooden balconies, wide stone pathways and dominating it all is this magnificent Cathedral. But let's talk about more interesting things, like food. I highly recommend heading to Jack's Cafe - not only is the food delicioso, but the portion sizes are massiveo! I eat a LOT of food, and even I struggled cleaning the plate 😝

Cusco also acts as another base for the Inca Trail. We left our big suitcases here, before travelling to Ollantaytambo for one night pre-hike. 🚢
I took this shot from Mirador de San Cristobal, which offers some rather awesome views over the city 😁
.
Happy Sunday! Back to Uni for me tomorrow πŸ“š
