SWIPE LEFT FOR MORE!! Oooooh I got a killer one for you guys today. Its #YogisStretchMonday & today I will will be leading you through some core and upper body strengthening drills. These will help develop a nice solid foundational strength & eventually help you progress into more advanced asanas.

Thoughout the practice keep that core fired up and engaged, start with a good base of support with wide spread strong fingers, engaging & activating the arms, keep the shoulder plugged into their sockets spreading the collar bone wide. When moving the legs activate the legs by spreading through the toes. Draw the knees in towards the elbows by moving from the core and drawing the belly in towards the spine. Move with intention and never move into pain!! Play safe guys!! BEGINNERS: repeat for 4 sets with 30 second break in child pose between sets.

Joy & I have had so much fun creating this challenge together for you all. We love practicing & playing together and we hope you have all enjoyed the fun as much as we have! This pose made us feel especially loved & close to each other. There is something about entwining the arms & having our backs to each other, you can really feel the heart beat the breath, you find that rhythm as the movement & breath sync. I'm super excited to share this with you and our #YogisStretchMonday tribe. Today I will be guiding you through some yin style relaxation practice. This is going to be perfect for you guys who have sitting jobs all day & all closed off & tight in the front half of our body. This will help the muscles & nervous system to relax, release and counteract all that tension we build up throughout our busy lives.

🔸 You will need either a bolster, pillows, towels, blankets, pile of clothes or whatever you can use that is soft and comfortable to raise you up off of the mat. Also a head support, again cushions, rolled up towel will work just fine, & maybe some blocks, books, blankets for leg support 🔸sit an inch or two in front of your bolster. This will allow space for the hips to release as you set up for the posture. 🔸sit tall with an Inhale then exhale walk the hands back down lower yourself nice & slowly on vertebrae at a time
🔸allow the the chest & shoulders to relax, allow the head to fall back & rest on the support. Now open the arms out to the sides palms facing up
🔸 keep the legs crossed here or go a bit deeper into the posture by placing the palms of the feet together & letting the knees fall open to the sides. 🔸 use blocks to support under the knees if there is allot of tension building up in the legs. The idea here is to support the body & allow the muscles to relax naturally with ease. So no forcing guys!! 🔸stay here for 5-10 mins using a calm smooth flowing relaxing breath. I like to stay for a good 20 minutes but if this is new to you I would start off with a slightly shorter time frame & gradually build up. 🔸when you are ready Inhale to prepare & exhale lift the head & slowly push yourself up to a seated position using your hands to support yourself
🔸 then lengthen the spine inhaling the hands up over head. 🔸 exhale release the hands down to a forward fold

Dont forget about giving yourselves time to relax, energise & reset the calm. Often we focus so hard on living full throttle attempting to reach our goals that we neglect the fact that we need rest & we become out of sorts because we are exhausted and burned out. When that exhausted it is easy to develope a short temper & negative attitude. Remind yourself that actually we recover much quicker when we take that extra time to chill out. This is essential for keeping a nice healthy long lasting relationship with our partner, family & friends. Don't always try so hard! Relax & give yourselves the chill time that you need . _

Whether your partner is your spouse, sibling, best friend, gym partner or whatever, being strong for each other in any situation is the key to a long and healthy relationship. I am blessed to have exactly that with Joy. When I need her Joy is always there for me! She picks me up and shares the weight. But it cannot be one-sided we must both be sharing the weight both doing our part to support one and other. Give your strength to the other make life easier for each other and flow into a strong steady relationship. The intrinsic equilibrium of life, love, and light.

Today I was called to do a pose that I have shy'd away from for a few months now. Been trying to heal & strengthen the back of my knees. Was so shocked to see how much flexibility I have lost. You know what time it is!!! It's time for #YogisStretchMonday today I will will be guiding you through crescent lunge and how to get a nice balanced activated pose by activating the muscle chains

Tips to follow and improve your practice:
🔸from downward dog Inhale look up & step the right foot up to the right thumb. 🔸keep a bend in the back knee & balance the hips by drawing the right hip back & moving the right hip forward squaring the hips
🔸Inhale to prepare & without loosing the balance in the hips exhale press back through the left heal straightening the back leg 🔸 activate & rotate the thighs inwardly then tuck the tailbone slightly by engaging the glutes
🔸 place your hands on the right knee engage your core & Inhale lifting the chest
🔸tuck in the lower floating ribs in to draw the chest over hips
🔸connect the shoulders chest & upper back by spreading the collar bone wide & moving the shoulders down and back into their sockets
🔸 Inhale the arms up overhead & activate the arms by rotating the triceps inwardly and reach through the fingers. You should feel the connection at the back of the armpit leading up through the arms
🔸 deepen the lunge making sure that the right knee does not over shoot the ankle. If it does then try to widen your stance without sacrificing the balance in the hips. 🔸look up to the thumbs and stay here for 5 deep open breaths
🔸if shoulder flexibility allows you can also complete the connection of the pose by lightly pressing the palms together. But be sure not to sacrifice the balance and position of the shoulders
🔸 exhale the hands to the mat step the right leg back & repeat on the other side

#_FXY_ Ash has us pushing our boundaries and asking us to get all Bruce Lee on the fingers with our arm balances. This was tricky for me today as my balance was a little off but the skater in me just wouldn't quit. Kept telling myself I could do it and I kept saying just one more try hahahaha I almost quit because I was rushing to work d it took a little longer to get it done nicely.
