Happy Easter Fools Day!
I found this colorful beauty recently at the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. He was hanging out near the feeders with some Painted Buntings. If anyone has an ID, I would appreciate it.
It was an interesting day, especially the Google GPS Navigation leading to Corkscrew. I watched fully aware as Google directed me past my turnoff. It was obvious; there was a large sign for Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary but Google had a "better" route. I was up for an adventure and had time to waste; so, I elected to see where Google was leading me. Several miles past the correct turn, I was instructed to turn onto a not-so-paved farm road. I did as instructed. As the "road" continued for several miles, it kept getting more and more narrow and obviously less travelled. I drove through a partially opened gate, but the instructions from Google continued. By the time I reached my destination, it was more of a trail, narrower than the walking trails at Circle B. It was also a dead-end in the middle of a field, about 10 miles from the actual Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. After a brief walk around, I got back in the car and reversed the route, thankful that the gate was still open, and went to the real Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary for an enjoyable afternoon walk.

If you've read this far, you probably suspect something's up and you'd be right. To my international followers, this post is in honor of April Fools Day, the first day of April when some of us try to prank each other. While everything I stated above is true, this colorful bird was not quite this colorful when I saw him. This is a bad photoshop. The Google Navigation story is 100% true and not part of the prank.
