This is one of the last photos I have of Skyla with her paci y’all! I’m so happy that we’ve finally kicked this addiction once and for all! I took her to the dentist this week and Dr. Nick (that’s actually her dentist’s name) said that she has a severe open bite from using the paci. Before he came in, the dental hygienist said they recommend stopping the use of pacifiers by 3, which was my understanding as well so I hadn’t pulled it. I had no idea that it was affecting her mouth as much as it was. Of course the internet doctors spoke their opinions daily and she got countless “I can’t hear you with that thing in your mouth” comments (the most cringeworthy of all to be honest), but I didn’t want to take away her comfort unless I had a solid reason from a doctor. I ended up taking it away immediately after leaving the dentist, cold turkey (which isn’t recommended), but I felt like enough was enough. I’m happy to say she’s going on fine without it... even during naps, sleeping through the night, and the huge one is that she flew on an airplane without it and only asked for it once. We just reminded her that Dr. Nick said she can’t have it anymore, and she said ok! ☺️ Note: she’s always putting her hands in her mouth now and I hate that because of germs and it can be equally damaging to the mouth. Any tips for this? XO .
