185kg/407lb x1 and 170kg/374lb 3x3 down with the Mac crew again! High bars feeling naice, and I'm getting along well without equipment.
πŸ‘‰ Changed pants for comfort into my @musclenationofficial trackies as my old King's ones were too tight on the old quadz πŸ˜‚πŸ€™ keen to be back to 100% soon ☺️

Some 4x4 belly out bench press at the very schmick @citystrength_hq today πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘Œ caught up with my boy @joeydalisay today briefly amongst the windy havoc that is Sydney. Ty John for luscious handouts πŸ€™
πŸ‘‰ After a few days of being in bed, this felt good for my first session back. Normally when I'm sick I push on conservatively with training and work, but my body didn't give me much choice this time. Hoping to be back on top of things by the time the week is out πŸ™Œ
πŸ™ Huge thank you to all my clients who were incredibly understanding whilst I was at home. It isn't until you're down and out for a couple days that you realise how many people you see in a day!

It's been good to move back into some beltless work on both my squat and deadlift. It took me about one and a half sessions to get really familiar again, but that's expected. Feeling good about this upcoming block πŸ‘€πŸ˜ singles and triples at 225kg (82%)/195kg (71%) felt tops but I've got some work to do on... everything πŸ‘

5x10 front squats got me feeling some kind of way πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ always having a mad time with the fam at @athletesauthority ❀️
In all seriousness what a great sesh. Loving this volume (srs). Ever so keen for next week's training which will see a big switch up in my training πŸ€™ whatever happens, always have fun with your training and the vibe you bring to whatever facility you use. 1-2 hours of freedom, is exactly what training provides.

😎 (GHD) Nordic hamstring curl is one of my favourite hamstring exercises. Probably one of the more uncommon ones, but remains a part of my "favourites list" from the days of rugby 7s and attempting to prevent hamstring tears. I wouldn't necessarily account my absence of hamstring tears during rugby to nordics alone, but the literature certainly informs us that hamstring strength (particularly eccentric) plays a vital role in injury prevention. That aside, I would still include this exercise for a wide range of athletes looking to build bigger and stronger hamstrings.

Comp post #3
😎 Deadlifts were a disappointing part of the day, but ultimately they took a lot of pressure due to the earlier squat fail. Circumstance lead to us taking a slightly higher opener than planned, and a much higher 2nd than planned - she wasn't coming up πŸ˜‚
πŸ‘‰ 1st : 262.5kg/577.5lb βœ…
πŸ‘‰2nd: 277.5kg/610.5lb ❌ (hitching)
πŸ‘‰ 3rd 277.5kg/610lb ❌ (weak πŸ˜‚)
πŸ‘‰ I finished up with 3rd place after Luke pulled 275kg, and Saxon pulled a 290kg deadlift. This put Luke well ahead with a 718kg total, and Saxon at the same total as me (677.5kg). Due to being a slightly lighter body weight, that pushed me down to 3rd place. Couldn't have asked for a better set of lads to come up against, and I must admit it was great to see Luke pull together the total he has deserved for a long time. Congrats bro ❀️
😯 All in all I've made amazing progress on my deadlifts in the last 9-10 months under the guidance of @tangzworld and one bad performance does not change that πŸ™Œ
πŸ‘‰ Firstly a MASSIVE thank you to my coach Andrew Tang. I have never had someone take care of me quite like this gentleman. I'm excited to move forward as a 21 year old junior lifter with you as my coach. 16 more months in the juniors excites me, and I have taken nothing but excellent lessons, a humbled attitude, gratitude, and admiration from this experience. We will build bigger and better every day.
πŸ‘‰ Thankyou to my beautiful girlfriend @_nessblake (who you can hear screaming her heart out for me). She is one incredible person, who I appreciate a lot more than I tend to voice. Countless hours helping me stretch, roll, massage, prep food, train and more. Every inch of the way I get encouragement, love, and if I fail she helps me to persevere. We are an epic team and I'm lucky to have her there screaming for me ❀️
πŸ‘‰ Last but not least my AWESOME support crew on the day consisting of my Mum & Dad, @_nessblake @chrisanastasii @cassiegullick @_madibartholomew @racheljacobsohn @ethanban @alexhayes_lift @aidenjpotts @hamish.france @anthonyzkat @critta_ - you're all crazy af and it's awesome to be able to call you my friends ❀️

Comp post #2
😎 Bench press - the only lift that went 3/3, and presented a 5kg comp PB. I came out with a 152.5kg opener which was not too bad, a 157.5kg second which I rushed the call on (but managed 2 whites), and a 162.5kg third attempt which was truely my max for the day. Overall really pleased with bench progress as of late, and I'm keen to see this lift continue on it's current trend πŸ˜―πŸ˜„
πŸ‘‰ After this lift I had a 415kg subtotal, putting me in second place behind @luke.m.ashton who pushed forward to a 443kg subtotal after a stunning 193kg bench press πŸ‘πŸ‘Œ

Comp post #1
😯 A bitter sweet competition for me. Let's start with squats! With a bumpy latter end of squat prep, we knew things were in the balance for our big ambitions on comp day. I was ready to give everything I had though! Here's the result πŸ‘
πŸ‘‰ 240kg/528lb - probably the best I've ever squatted 240kg, and at this point I was feeling quite good.
πŸ‘‰ 252.5kg/555.5lb - 2.5kg under my best comp squat. Due to a slightly poor bar placement and a bit of a messy drop into the hole, this weight didn't move as a 2nd attempt should! Kept my chin up, and moved on.
πŸ‘‰ 261kg/574lb - 0.5kg above @waterboy19's Jnr Aus record squat. We came into nats with this record in mind, and also knew it would be a big contributor to where my final placing would fall. I threw everything I had at this squat, put it all on the table. Even once the bar started moving slightly again, the tank was frankly empty from the grind. 261kg is unforgiving and it was a humbling experience to go down to this weight. It's the first time I've ever failed a squat in comp by not standing up. Massive thanks to the awesome team of spotters taking care of me. It's safe to say I'm hungry for this and more next time I step onto the platform.
πŸ‘ Even with my 2nd attempt squat I was 2.5kg ahead at this point.
βœ… Up soon - bench and deads!

Time to bring a fantastic prep to the platform. Comp blinkers are on. Updates to come!
