This painting was done by a woman with #Syringomyelia called Didi Bergman - I keep it on my phone because it's the best way to show people what my disability looks like. I was tagged by @carolinekeeth to explain why I write about my disabilities - I do so because I know how lonely being sick can feel; before I got any diagnoses I felt more alone than I ever have done & probably ever will. Hardly anyone believed I was telling the truth about my pain & my legs not working & I hated my existence. When I was finally diagnosed with Syringomyelia I found forums & support groups online & without them I probably wouldn't be here. The support & understanding I got from those groups kept me going whilst I came to terms with my illnesses & I write on my blog about my illnesses & host guest posts from other disabled young people so that I can provide some of the comfort that I got from other people online. Disability is lonely, but I hope that one day that won't be the case.
