I understand the attraction to living this way- choosing solitude at a slower pace rather than loneliness in a city. It would even be easy to forget the novelties of the city when you're learning to be self-sustainable. The gratifying success of being able to do simple things like feed myself and warm myself always puts life in a new perspective. The daylight means more the night means more and every moment in between is valuable. It gets cold and scary at night but waking up to the pile of firewood I collected before sun-down and the insane invention of the skillet actually (really) makes it all absolutely worth it.
