Celise 🌻🌞  practicing self-awareness and acceptance. love yours. ✨ (nature photos taken on my iPhone) UConn Alumna C/o ‘18

For the past six or seven months, I have been slowly detaching from my fantasy self. It was a draining journey of decluttering (still going) items and clothes I’d bought but never wore; donating books that I’ve bought that I thought I’d read; and so on. I have been keeping up with this self-image where I’m extremely organized, where I eat clean 95% of the time (I do keep up with my veggie lifestyle—don’t get me wrong lol); just this individual that has their life all figured out. I wanted to embody that image all the time. It was mentally and emotionally straining because even though I was aware of my life’s circumstances, I’ve avoided them to create my own interpretation of my life and how I wanted others to view me. Well... not anymore. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Sure, I’m all about self-improvement but it’s for me. No one else. Especially on these social platforms. I have nothing to prove to no one because at the end of the day, we’re all on the same playing field, just different life situations, trials and tribulations. I am not 100% satisfied with my life all the time and that’s normal. I do experience episodes of separation anxiety from time to time. I am a real person. There is no more facade.

Everything that defines us does not belong to us. Time? Borrowed. The bodies that house our spirits? Borrowed. Our energy? Borrowed. The clothes on our backs, the homes (including our lovely mother’s uterus) we live(d) in, the ideas that we exchange, the books we read, our occupations, our cultures, even our “own” thoughts and dreams and aspirations that we use to identify ourselves with, etc. That’s all borrowed! And that’s just fine. What’s important is how we use our borrowed time. Are we doing what fulfills our burning desires? Are we connecting with meaningful beings? Are we living intentionally, not just merely existing? Are we aimlessly searching for our true purpose in this life? Are we sharing our borrowed knowledge to others around us? Think about how to optimize the time that you have left as a human. 🌞

Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. 🌞

being physically-able, healthy, and full of life keeps me grateful for every day that I walk this Earth.

Friendly reminder: You’re human. It’s ok to make mistakes, as long as you learn from them. 🌞

If you’d just look, you can find the beauty in every single thing. (photo captured yesterday around 3 PM) 🌞

I’ve addressed this in my story not too long ago, but I’ve always questioned people’s gratitude in a Universal Intelligence/God/Entity/Higher Power/Universe. What do I mean by that? When something great occurs in one’s life, who do they thank? A Higher Power (or maybe not, depends on your beliefs). Exactly. But what about when things go wrong? Eh, not so much. It’s interesting, really. I do this, sometimes, too. Not so much anymore, every thing takes time to understand. I just think it’s fascinating that the beauty, the happiness, etc. is all thanks to Universal Intelligence, but the ugly, depressing, etc. does not get the same gratuity. Didn’t the same Higher Power inflict such? 🌻

Recently experienced a fifth-Life crisis (who wouldn’t love to see 100 years?) where I found myself evaluating my life goals and how I’d see myself living in the next 5, 10, 15 years. Why do I allow my anxiety to do that to me? It’s been a long roller coaster of emotions, successes/failures, mental stability, etc. However, just the thought that I am alive and able to experience these day-to-day hardships and moments of satisfaction & contentment really keeps me going. 🌞🌻

Reminder, what people upload to a social platform has been carefully selected. What they choose to disclose on their media is only a moment/segment of their reality (or false reality). And that is OK. You cannot truly know an individual through this platform. You never truly understand the depths of a being until you interact with them. So before you engage in self-deprecating thoughts, everyone is fighting their own battles, struggling with their own insecurities, and trying to find happiness/contentment/fulfillment in their human lives. You will actively strip yourself of your own joy by comparing yourself to others—especially through social media. 🌞 - (this photo was taken on one of my walks)
