RAEN annual Pinot Noir release is now live...Yeeee! | Link in our BIO | We are incredibly grateful to be releasing our 5th vintage of RAEN today! It has been an incredible journey and each vintage reflects the culmination of Mother-Nature and all the small choices that we make as farmers and winemakers. We absolutley believe that great wine is grown and that our final wine is a reflection of our reactions and all the small decisions we make leading up to the final bottle. 2017 was epic for us on the extreme Sonoma Coast. Intense winter rains took us out of a 4-year drought, followed by a beautiful cool growing season, then profound heat waves that arrived in mid-August, offered a challenge that our wines benefited greatly from. With good phenological ripeness, this event concentrated all elements, especially flavor and acidity, while still at relatively low sugar brix. We picked at this moment and have been grateful ever since! The timing of this decision gave way to our most powerful bottling to date.
In the cellar, allΒ RAEN wines are natively fermented. We are a whole cluster house with all lots being close to 100% whole bunches (an ancient method that we honor). After fermentation, all lots were aged in neutral French oak and bottled un-finned and unfiltered to retain purity. As always these are tiny production lots and we hope youΒ Β have the chance to enjoy at some point

RAEN barrel down | The sweet juice of the last few weeks has fermented fully on its own merits. It has been pressed, combined and now, as fall arrives it is time to rest, evolve and mature. The wine as it stands now is far too young, tight and intense to enjoy so this ancient ritual of aging young wine in barrel is needed. Outside it is already so much cooler and we are expecting our first rains this week. Grateful mother nature held off for us although a little rain to cleanse the clusters is never a bad thing. The next phase of this wines life begins now... πŸ™πŸΌπŸ·

Grateful to have the light shined on our RAEN wines most recently from Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW. This was our first tasting with the Wine Advocate in which we opened some older inspirational bottles our father made including a bottle of 1978 RMW Pinot Noir which was fresh bright and full of life. The past ever helps us now and continues to inspire going forward.

Welcome to our paradise. Where the ocean air blows cool and the days are slow enough to capture all that Mother Nature has to offer. Our first RAEN pick of the year is set in our warmest block this Monday... a few more days to evolve as we emerge from the cloudy, cool, misting weather that caused our Brix to drop (first time we have seen that). This year is not going to lack flavor intensity or acidity... these swan clusters are sitting around 21.6 Brix, dark flavorful lil Pinot bunches. Grateful to see our two founders on the cover of @napasonomamag ! As a small, focused, Pinot Noir winery out on the Sonoma Coast, we did want to clarify that the brothers do not own any portion of Charles Krug Winery and Charles Krug Winery does not own any portion of RAEN winery. There is a deep family friendship that exists in our family now and we all admit our family history can be confusing. So, although kind at heart, we felt this article confused this a bit.
