Part 1 of our story:
First starting off, meeting each other in our early-mid 20s, both experiencing deeply what needed to be felt already, with opposite but similar pasts, in the process of healing, not ready for anything serious - I had just gotten out of an intense breakup that left me searching for anything outside of myself that made me happy, and Max had just taken a vow of abstinence 6 mo prior
.
We met one night at my old apartment, my roommate at that time introduced us because she thought we would connect as friends - Max was starting his coordinated internship and masterโ€™s program to become an RD and I just started working as an RD. He just got certified as a yoga instructor that summer and I had plans to become a yoga instructor in the next year
.
We went out in uptown Dallas that night, exchanged info to do yoga together, and basically didnโ€™t see or talk to each other for over a month (as I took out of town trips and partied hard, and Max started his dietetic program)
.
A month later, we bought groupons to try out yoga studios nearby. We started off as friends, acquaintances even, practicing at the same studio (that we both teach at now!), but mostly at different times to fit our schedules
.
At that time, I was still searching outside of myself. In the silence, all my thoughts of guilt and sadness would pour in, so I would suppress them with partying, dating guys, alcohol, and anything to numb my senses
.
Max would invite me to do acroyoga at the monthly jam at our studio, but I would always have an excuse of being busy (after all it was Friday night ๐ŸŽ‰) But the more we hung out and the more we connected, I started to become more fluid and deeply grateful for our friendship - I told him what I was experiencing, and he was there, holding space without judgment
.
I realized that I needed more of that compassion in my life. It was hard to let go of the toxic energy I still kept around, going to yoga classes hung over, keeping in contact with people who didnโ€™t serve me or my highest self. I thought it was hard, so damn hard to let go of the things that I was drowning in, addicted to the highs and lows -

We always start so close to each other (because I think Liz is pretty neat), so we always bump into each other on the way down to stalder ๐Ÿ˜‚ Starting with some straddle pancake ๐Ÿฅž partner stretching to help with the handstand presses ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ Always wearing @aloyoga โค๏ธ

Who wins? ๐Ÿ˜… I left my shirt on to be fair ๐Ÿ˜ฑ also fun fact - Liz RIPS dudes at arm wrestling ๐Ÿ˜‚ #thatsmyflyer #proudbase โค๏ธ .

Tonight Liz made dinner. It was SSOOOO spicy. I said โ€œBabe you made this 50 shades of grey too hawt ๐Ÿ”ฅโ€ I meant to say โ€˜50 shades of redโ€™ and make a joke, but my sleep deprived brain just reverted the joke to its original form. Liz knew what I meant anyway ๐Ÿ˜‚ Last week, however, Liz said the quote that started this post and I was like โ€œYyaaaaaaaassssssโ€ ... but she had accidentally switched the words around. But when you think about it, the quote runs deep. Now I say it all the time ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ”ฅ Dream work makes the team work ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

On another note, it feels like 15 degrees here in Texas and we are so cold, we donโ€™t know where we are ๐Ÿ˜… Wearing all @aloyoga โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ“ธ @eirascheper

Hand to hand for us is that special skill, moment, connection. There is nothing like it, holding another humanโ€™s full weight with just your hands. Your hands have so many receptors in them, making them strong, sensitive, and dexterous. The brain has a large portion of space devoted to just the hands and sensory input, so you can really get a feel for your partner in this way. Itโ€™s like the difference between taking an essential oil on your tongue or diluting it in water. We love playing with hand to hands, and itโ€™s definitely our favorite move! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ Holding hands โค๏ธ Our friends also tend to like it ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜˜ @mel.on.cannon @melodysmith @cannonmcnair @acro_calisthenics @sveta_yogagirl and of course @miz.liz and I wearing all @aloyoga ๐Ÿ‘—

In honor of Max recently shaving his beard and it being wayyyyy too cold to shoot outside, hereโ€™s a throwback from 2 years ago in January! Pre-beard, long hairs (Max got cornrows and mine was down to my low back at that time before we ๐Ÿ’‡๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’‡๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜†) We never posted this photo ๐Ÿ˜ฑ What a magical day it was hanging in LA with the magical @actionhiro behind the cam ๐Ÿ“ธ

Life is change. Things will happen to you - how will you react when they are less than optimal? Two days ago I (Max) got sick for the first time in a long time. While it was just for two days, and my beautiful wife @miz.liz showered me with affection (which was worth it just for that), I learned a valuable lesson. I was about to sell my car, had workouts planned, my little cousin is in town, emails to write, and I had offered to cook dinner for some friends - then I had to cancel all of my plans. I felt unproductive and blob-like. Then I realized what a gift I had been given. I had the privilege of taking it easy for two whole days. I didnโ€™t have to worry about work or classes (because Liz also taught by herself). I got to play video games (which is in my top 5 favorite things to do - specifically I played sanctum). I got to be in silence and meditate..... What I had previously labeled as โ€œbadโ€ turned out to be just what my body and mind needed. -
.
And why this picture you ask? Well, @drwhits is in town and hopefully we will see her this weekend! Word on the street is she is full term and twice as big ๐Ÿคฐ We just saw a recent photo of her and she is ๐Ÿ’ฏ super pregnant โค๏ธ
My motos: @aloyoga ๐Ÿ‘–

We are always asked - what is the key to our relationship? There is no demanding or changing, only subtle shifts made with love and encouragement. Be strong. Be supportive. And your partnerโ€™s light will shine its fullest. Whether or not it illuminates you is irrelevant, a byproduct of their radiance shining through. Hold space in a way that allows them to learn, grown, and become their highest self ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ

For 2018-
Find strength in your softness
And softness in your strength
Let your heart guide your passions
And let your passions fuel your soul
Celebrate your strengths whenever you can
And acknowledge your potential to grow even further
Let yourself run, wild and free
Set your soul on fire
This is only the beginning โค๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Throwback to warm beach days in Miami ๐Ÿ with @fitflexjuli behind the ๐Ÿ“ธ wearing all @aloyoga ๐Ÿ‘—

We filmed this right before we left for Miami Beach and guess what was the first thing we did when we came back? ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚ Side note, Liz does her happy dance near the end of the video and if you havenโ€™t seen it before, itโ€™s a must watch ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป Our friends @dfwbacktohealth have been taking care of us since Day 1 and if youโ€™ve watched our stories, youโ€™ve seen us go there every week religiously. We train hard. And in order to take care of ourselves and prevent injury, we need maintenance. Self care comes in many forms, and one of those forms is knowing when to let someone help you โค๏ธ Plus, as we all know, itโ€™s easier to maintain something than to fix it when itโ€™s broken. How do you show your body love? Videoโ€™d here are adjustments and rapid release techniques. Maintenance, food, and training all go hand in hand for us ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ™ Do you want to see more sessions like this?

We're pumped to announce that we will be teaching acroyoga at @WanderlustFest 108 Dallas AND Austin this year! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Even though Miami Beach treated us well (beach, ocean, weather, good food, friends, family...), I was beyond STOKED to see the Dallas skyline yesterday driving back ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ (And started giggling uncontrollably in the car ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ while Max just looked at me and smiled).
.
Itโ€™ll never get old, coming back home.
.
All the familiarity amplified by our absence.
.
And while we may not live here forever, Dallas is still home to me, growing up in this city (mostly in the suburbs) - with all the comforts of a home, places to film and practice, friends whoโ€™ve become family, and last but not least our Dallas Acro tribe โค๏ธ Canโ€™t wait to see our community tomorrow for our first class back in 2018! .
