Long lensing into the largest munitions depot on the planet - according to our gov, “Hawthorne Army Depot stores reserve ammunitions to be used after the first 30 days of a major conflict.”

Hey friends! Would love to see you in Denver TOMORROW night for an exhibition Pattern has put together and the first opportunity to pick up a hard copy of American Backyard in person! • Repost of @patterndenver • Pattern's first exhibition looks at the Mexico–United States border by bringing two distinct bodies of work into conversation with one another. The show opens Thursday, May 16 at 7 pm. ⠀
Elliot Ross’s and Genevieve Allison’s “American Backyard” is a sweeping look at the 2,000-mile border. Through collected vignettes, the project aims to look at issues playing out in daily lives of those who live near the border. Beyond talk of the Trump wall, there is a larger, less transparent story to be told about these borderlands related to creolization, acculturation, habitat loss, surveillance and diversity.

at the northern bound of Tonopah, there are plenty of lines to love

Good luck finding bok choy in Battle Mountain, NV - though this kid, Axel, will try really hard to help. Though, I think he was just eager to do anything outside of dusting canned veg.

A year has passed since Gen and I quietly slipped out of New York City and headed West to our dream home in the Colorado Foothills. Of course there are many things we miss - our friends mostly, but also the endless new experiences in food, music and culture. What we’ve lost there, we’ve gained in a much more balanced relationship with work, a closer connection with my family and long rambles in the outdoors. Uprooting and changing a life’s course isn’t easy, but the new soil it provides has enriched our lives in so many more ways than dollar pizza ever could.

headed west towards Moab along the Colorado - the Fisher Towers are looking looking so very beautiful backed by the La Sals piled with snow - what a drive

Smartphone zombies - according to the gov 11,000 injuries while texting and walking have been reported in the last decade - who knows how many more have gone unreported. Some places are taking steps (ha.ha.) like Fort Lee in Jersey that doles out $85 tickets for this (unlikely) crime. Anyways, that’s my PSA for the day… carry on.

Pete Buttigieg will soon be vacating his desk at the helm of South Bend, Indiana as his bid to become the next President arrives center stage. As reporter @charlottealter describes, “Buttigieg has vaulted from near total obscurity toward the front of the Democratic pack, running ahead of or even with more established candidates and behind only Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders.” Alter explains that part of his appeal comes from being, “a gay Episcopalian veteran in a party torn between identity politics and heartland appeals.” • It’s been a privilege shooting on assignment for @time - thank you so much for your support throughout the process @paulmoakley

a beautiful spring day turned quick soon after this tumbleweed landed in frame brought in by a cold wind from the west
