Dylan Altman  singer/songwriter Nashville, TN

Great day today at my niece Stella Altman’s bat mitzvah. First picture is me and my cousin/brother/best friend @marshallaltman and the 2nd is of our two beautiful daughters @isabellajaltman and @stella_altman . Very grateful to have family down here in Nashville.

A clip from last month’s Aretha Franklin tribute show at 3rd and Lindsley. I got the opportunity to interpret Aretha’s version of “Drown In My Own Tears”. Thanks to @emilywestofficial for letting me be a part of such a great show.

Dylan Altman Blues Band tomorrow night, October 4th at Belcourt Taps. First show in a month. Honoring noted hedonist and birthday boy, Tommy Lee of Motley Crue. @nickbuda will be twirling drumsticks and singing an a cappella version of “Home Sweet Home”. Also playing with @bamagalali @jimmib3

A clip from last week’s blues show @belcourttaps with some of my favorite musicians: @nickbuda , @gabedixon and @bamagalali . We play just about every 1st, 3rd and occasional 5th Thursday of every month, including this Thursday September 6th at 6PM. Come on out sometime for some classic R&B and old school blues.

A clip and some pics from the other night in Atlanta when I sat in with my blues brother extraordinaire Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his badass band including Noah Hunt and the great Chris “Whipper” Layton on drums. Thanks to Marshall Altman for getting me out of the house and for filming this and thanks to Kenny for having me up. A true talent and class act...

Come on out for some great songs and food, and the real life punchline to the joke:”2 Jews and an Irishman walk into a bar...”

Ah, the memories... to last years BMI awards when, in an attempt to be amusing and charming, I told tennis legend John McEnroe (pictured) that I agreed with comedy legend Larry David that ping pong is harder than tennis. He was neither amused nor charmed by my presence, and he appeared to forget the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” episode “The Freak Book” in which he was told the same thing by Larry David and “respectfully disagreed”. He disagreed with me as well, though not respectfully... (Pic: @ericpaslay )

I’m a songwriter. Growing up listening to great songs by the Beatles, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen and many others led me to being a songwriter. Songs have been a huge part of so many memories of my life, just like they have been for anyone reading this. Support songwriters and the #musicmodernizationact.

Playing some blues and soul tonight with my friends Guthrie Trapp, Jimmy Wallace, Dave Racine and Tim Marks at 9pm at Dee’s in Madison. Come out for some booze and blues.... Painting: Josette Altman

In the history of film, there have been many great heroes. For me, there are really only four: Indiana Jones, Atticus Finch, Oskar Schindler, and Dalton from “Road House”. Roger Ebert said in his iconic review of the film, “...I hesitate to recommend it, because so much depends on the ironic vision of the viewer. This is not a good movie. But viewed in the right frame of mind, it is not a boring one either.” Come out tonight and help us celebrate 29 years of Dalton and Wade Garrett.

Vive La France... My beloved Mother, Josette, would’ve loved seeing France win the World Cup today. This is a clip from one of her all time favorite movies, “Casablanca”, where the whole room erupts into La Marseillaise, while drowning out a table of piece of shit Nazi’s.

Happy Father’s Day to my old man, Laurie Altman. A great father who’s also a great musician and composer. He was my first musical influence and still influences me today. He taught me piano, how to shag flies, and how to be a strong, loving father. He put 4 kids through college on a teacher’s salary, is a great storyteller and laugher and has a sharp mind and quick wit. He took me to my first Yankees game, first Woody Allen movie and took me to see the great Miles Davis at the JVC Jazz Festival when I was still in high school(I repaid him by taking him to see David Lee Roth). A generous man who still runs 2 miles everyday, reads 2 to 3 books simultaneously and appreciates a great meal and bottle of wine. Happy Father’s Day Pop. Wish you didn’t live a continent away, but so happy that you get to live such a wonderful life.
