Technique Tip Tuesday 🌟 The Melty Double Star
Who would've thought the exact same wrap for a Double Star could make an entirely different looking skill... meet the Melty Double Star!
I'll be honest, the skill requires massive amounts of control, core strength and body awareness. Do not attempt this without a live professional instructor to support and guide you.
See below for some insider technique pointers.
1️⃣ The wrap is exactly the same as a Double Star. It's an S-Wrap (any entry), pass the tail behind you, followed by a Single Star wrap on top (thigh wrap, belly wrap from front to back). Make sure the wrap is placed around your hip bones and not anywhere on your ribcage (ribcage injuries are common when drops like this go wrong). •
2️⃣ The aim is to begin from a Back Balance, if you don't trust your Back Balance up high I suggest not to attempt this skill yet or work on only the wrap very low (see my Technique Tip from 1/9/18 for tips on Back Balance, or subscribe to Aerial Physique TV). Once you're in your Back Balance hold the tail overhead with your outside arm reaching up by your ear.
3️⃣ From your Back Balance, slowly begin to turn your torso away from the pole and immediately fold forward in a pike. Helpful tip, your head must be lower than your booty in order to pause in the pike. Place both hands on the tail, be sure to keep your arms by your ears. This may seem obvious but I'll make mention of it anyway, the tail is your safety, do not let go of the tail!
4️⃣ Now here comes the 'melty' part. Slowly roll to face upward, hold your core and think about resisting the direction the drop is pulling you by maintaining muscle tension in your legs, core and even your arms. I find it helpful to bend one knee to slow down the roll even more. Once you complete a full slow rotation, end on your back and 'tada!' there you have it, a Melty Double Star.
5️⃣ To exit make sure to pass the tail to the right side (if you begin from a right side knee hook when you placed your wrap on) followed by sitting up to grab the pole and unwinding the wrap off your legs. ✨Have you claimed your Complimentary 3-Day Trial of Aerial Physique TV? Link in bio! ✨
