"My story begins in 2015... My good friend Scott had just joined this little gym called 9Round in my little town called Sandy, OR. He knew I was frustrated with my health and asked me to come down and give it a look. I am 62 years old now and recently retired in 2013. I was overweight, my cardio was poor and I was in generally pretty poor health.
I came down and gave it a go, and joined up shortly afterward. That was around May 26th, 2015. For the remainder of the year I went 26 times. I actually tried to get out of my contract and quit because "it was just too hard." The owner of the gym, Donnie Hollis, sat me down and had a real heart to heart talk with me about the benefits to my health. I didn't quit and, in 2016, I went in 93 times!
I began to get better at it and started seeing the changes to my body in the mirror and in the way I felt. I began making friends with the trainers. They really took a personal interest in my life and my health and are a huge part of my progress. I am also a part of a small band of 4 called the 'punch buddies' that meet many times a week and work out together.
I am committed to going at least 4 times a week and cant imagine not going in. If I miss a day, I make up for it that week. When we go on vacations the Punch Buddies check in with each other and even do homemade rounds while we are gone. I have sent a photo of myself and I almost don't recognize who that is! I am still overweight, but am starting to work on that through diet. The 9Rounders are helping me to understand nutrition and how to eat healthier.
To conclude, I'm not sure where I would be right now without 9Round as a part of my routine. I feel better, I have made amazing friends, and I have become more active than I've been in years! Thanks to 9Round and their program and the amazing people who work there... I Am Strong!" - Bryan H, 9Rounder
