Racing abroad and worried about the double-whammy effect of jet lag and heat on your performance? ✈️ 🔥@tri_thedon has the answers, only in the latest issue, on sale now!

“I put a wet towel in my tumble dryer in the utility room. As the room gets hot and humid I park my turbo in there and do an easy short ride (about 30-45mins), slowly increasing the duration or even adding in some race-pace work – but again, always staying hydrated.”

"I’m not a fast swimmer, but one thing I am good at is just eating and floating very far every single day,” says @rossedgley , who yesterday broke the longest sea swim world record while circumnavigating the GB coast! #greatbritishswim

Need some #mondaymotivation? How about a 60min sesh guaranteed to boost your bike speed and power? Get ready to leave your rivals in your tyre tread… by picking up the latest issue for this month’s bike session by @bottrillmatthew

“Adding a variety of pace is a great way to make big improvements on your bike. So training and shocking the body is the best approach to see gains quickly; it’s what I refer to as optimising speed, power and cycling aerodynamics.”

We’re proclaiming today @nicolaspirigofficial Day! Yesterday she won her sixth European title @glasgow_2018 Sounds easy? She had a 50sec deficit to claw back after the swim, rode solo for 4 of the bike laps to catch the lead group, worked like a Trojan to enter T2 with a cushion of almost 2mins… and then ran in for gold after 1:59:13, 33secs clear of second-place @jllearmonth

This to add to her two Olympic medals – gold in 2012, silver in 2016 – making her the most successful female triathlete in Olympic Games history.

In case you need further proof of the mighty Swiss’s awesomeness, she’s also an Ironman winner, a multiple 70.3 champion, a qualified lawyer and a mother of two, Yannis and Malea – her “greatest gift”.

Oh and she’s really bloody nice 😄

All hail the Stupendous Spirig! 🙌

Who wants to race @challengeroth ? 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️We do!!! With 250,000 roaring locals and the iconic Solar Hill, Challenge Roth is arguably the greatest experience in all of triathlon. So what’s it like to race the Bavarian classic? Reader @bionictrigirl Kelly Stokes shares her experience in the latest issue.

“Not one bit of tarmac is visible, just thousands of screaming spectators filling the road. I cycle forwards and the crowd parts just in time for me to continue. The intensity of the roar, the whites of the eyes and the passion on the face of every person on that hill will stick with me forever. It’s only then that I realise I have tears running down my face and my mouth is still hung open in awe of the surroundings. For that moment there’s no pain, just pure rapture and amazement.”

Mix up your swim training for big tri gains! 🏊🏼‍♂️🏊🏻‍♀️🏊🏼‍♂️🏊🏻‍♀️🏊🏼‍♂️

“Swimrun events, such as ÖtillÖ and Breca, aquathlons and biathlon have become popular multisport formats. But can the training required for this sort of racing enhance triathlon performance? Absolutely!” says coach Richard Smith.

Check out the latest issue, on sale now, for a 60min session that incorporates swimrun brick and interval sessions. Guaranteed to develop specific transition skills; improve your pace awareness, fitness and ability to move fast from one discipline to the next; help you to hold technique when fatigued; and are really bloody great fun!

Reunion Island, France
3km swim/120km bike/23km run

With events in Romania, Montenegro and the Azores, race series organiser Ocean Lava are one for testing out under-the-radar tri destinations. That theme continues with their Réunion Island venture, set on the volcanic speck of paradise in the middle of the Indian Ocean (and owned by France). Yet the race is far from an end-of-season picnic, with a 3km sea swim, 120km of riding in the island’s rolling hinterlands and a 23km trail run taking you to an altitude of 2,400m. oceanlava.com
