It’s important to know when to speed up - and when to slow down. After injuring my elbow a while ago, I had to take a step back from pull up training because the last thing I wanted to do was make my injury worse. It was frustrating and I was t always very good at resting it 😬 Now that it’s healed though I’ve been really focusing on slowing down my pull ups and building back my strength. As much as I love fast, speed-focused HIIT training this focus on slower pull ups (usually done before my HIIT workout) has really helped.

So any time you’re coming back from an injury or are learning a new skill or perfecting form, SLOW IT DOWN! Then once you master it you can work on speeding it up if it makes sense for the skill 👊

Not every day is going to go as planned.

I’ll be totally honest with you guys - yesterday I left my workout in tears. I didn’t finish what I’d set out to do. I was hungry, tired, and felt like all the work I’ve been putting in was pointless. I felt weak. Helpless. So disappointed in myself. I thought about trying to push through it but decided to try and be kind to myself and take a long walk and get some healthy food instead.
I was back at it today, and my workout felt great. I had a couple of small breakthroughs and could tell I really am getting stronger and closer to my goals, despite how I felt yesterday.

The lesson? We ALL have days that suck. Try not to be too hard on yourself, and when one day (or week, or month) doesn’t go as planned, pick yourself back up and try again the next day.

Complete 4-5 sets as fast as you can. Rest as little as possible between exercises and sets.

This dip to l-sit combo is one of my favorite parallel bar exercises 👊 and adding the flutter kicks at the end adds a nice little extra burn 🔥

You can always modify it by placing one or both feet on the ground to make the dips easier and doing a tuck l-sit instead!

PULL UPS!! 💥 You guys know these are one of my all time favorite exercises. When I hurt my elbow last year I couldn’t do very many without hurting it, so I went easy on them for a while. I definitely lost some pulling strength - but I officially feel back and ready to up my pull up game again 💪💪 I’ve also been working hard on muscle ups so I’m really hoping to finally get those too!
