  • itsabirdlife_mika @karlaounn I would recommend 10-12 hours. That's the suggested sleep time. Tired birds are cranky birds. Generally when it gets dark outside, put him in his cage and if you move him at night, go ahead and move his cage for the night. That will help. Also, I would recommend having pellet food available for him too. Zupreem is a great brand. They generally like the fruit flavor more, but most cockatiels are really picky about just eating their seeds. Which is fattening and not the best diet. So see if he will eat fresh fruits and veggies or pellets, along with his seed diet. If he will eat the pellets happily, great! Zupreem has a meal conversion, working them off seeds to all pellets, try that. But you have to make sure he's actually eating enough of the pellets, you don't want him to starve himself b/c he's picky. Haha. Good luck! I'm sure he'll warm up to you in no time. Also remember, male cockatiels will compete with sounds, so they'll always try to be louder than the tv or how loud you or your family talks. If he's being too loud, talk so quietly to him that he has to stop to hear you, you will only encourage him by raising your voice b/c he thinks it's acceptable or a game to see who is loudest. Haha. Also, punishment for the bird should be gently putting him in his cage or completely ignoring the bad behavior until he stops then encouraging him that he stopped. They don't really understand other than they won't get attention that way or that he goes in his cage if he does something. Also, check the plants you have in your house. If you have any, look up online or in the cockatiel handbook that I recommended and there will be lists of ok plants and toxic plants. Have fun!   4mon
  • karlaounn Ohh good news he started to eat and drink but thing is his screaming when at balcony in the morning and he like runs crazy around the cage but were around him his calm but sometimes screams and scared but i notice his like day by day getting very slowly used to environment tho does he needs to get out of cage? @itsabirdlife_mika   4mon
  • itsabirdlife_mika @karlaounn yeah, if he's pretty comfortable around you, you can work on him sitting on your finger or your shoulder, you could start teaching him where he can perch in the room. Basically when you don't want him on your shoulder, set him on his perch in that room that you want him to learn and then once you leave that room, pick him up and repeat in the next room you're going to.
