thepeoplesphotos So...in preparation for my first ever Banjo to arrive, I have taken off the bottom E string of my guitar to practice finger picking. Will my skills translate easily to the Banjo? What do you think Banjo Nation ? #banjo #bluegrass #folk #music #strings #guitar #deeringbanjos #thebluegrasssituation #instrument #riff #clawhammer #5string #frailing 1d

anthonysimpkins more #oldcrowmedicineshow. diggin this song, very vocally taxing though. also, some of the lines in this song are definitely "borrowed" straight from some traditional songs. 4w

nicedecnals I just realized you've never heard the shitty scalloped banjo! How about some sandy river belle in a minor feel and excessive hammer on and pull offs? #banjo#clawhammer#frailing#scalloped##scallopedfingerboard#harmony#tone#oldtime#notbluegrass 1mon

dustyleeelmer Silly Bill, standard tuning although it's really an A tune. #banjo #5stringbanjo #clawhammerbanjo #frailing #oldtimebanjo #oldtimemusic #bartreiterbanjos 1mon
  •   rjeroots Saaaaaaweet.. 1mon
  •   tntomcat @msveravictoria and I do this all the time - too lazy to capo, we play A tunes in G and D tunes in C. Which is fine for banjo and guitar duets, but gets dicey when I learn the tunes on the fiddle in the wrong key and then screw up jam circles because I forget that it's really an A tune... @dustyleeelmer 1mon
  •   dustyleeelmer @tntomcat hahaha I hear ya. I used to be a stickler but now I just leave it in the same relative tuning. I don't like to capo so I usually retune, but I play with others so rarely that it doesn't even matter. 1mon

dustyleeelmer Peg and Awl. @rk__hudson somehow I'd never heard this before. What a cool song. Definitely gonna refine it from here. Thanks for hipping me to it! #banjo #5stringbanjo #clawhammerbanjo #frailing #oldtimebanjo #oldtimemusic #traditionalmusic #bartreiterbanjos 1mon
  •   rk__hudson Heck yea!!! That was fast! It is a fun tune, I figured you already knew it and it was to simple!!! You nailed it! 1mon
  •   dustyleeelmer @rk__hudson it's very similar to "God Gave Noah the Rainbow Sign". I really like it! 1mon
  •   rk__hudson Awesome! Thanks for posting it! 1mon
  •   sarah_m_nichols I love this song! I didn't know anyone else even knew it - I learned it from an Elizabeth Laprelle recording and that's the only place I've ever heard it. So cool to hear another version! 1mon
  •   aaronckeim Check out the Carolina Tar Heels version. 1mon
  •   rk__hudson @aaronckeim that's the one I suggested, or the only one I've heard for that matter.. 1mon
  •   stumasonmusic I think Molsky did it too? 1mon
  •   dustyleeelmer @aaronckeim @rk__hudson that's the first one I checked then I stumbled on Pete Seeger and a bunch of others that were straight banjo. I do like the Tar Heels version the best out of the 3 or 4 I've heard. @stumasonmusic I think there's a video on YouTube of Bruce Molsky doing it. 1mon
