  •   africansgirl It's so hard wen your at the bottom and can't see light, and u think u will never see light again. But I have to keep reminding myself of the times I've felt like that.. And the light has come back, if only creeping in. 12h

annali65 "The wisdom that teaches
the rose to open
is the wisdom I call on
to face each day.
In the face of fear,
I open like a rose.
Even though
I'm tempted
to retreat or shut down,
instead I feel the sun,
take a breat
and open my chest wide". Elissa Goodman

danielleclaus_ Life is never easy, but some if not most people hit a little bump in the road. Just remember that little bump will lead to something brighter in the future. Never feel alone, always remember there's plenty of people who are there to support and help you through anything 7d

hello_sweetie_geronimo So I know its not actually Depression Awareness Week, but I don't think it should be confined to just one week.
Depression is a silent illness, and I know this because I've struggled with it for the past two years with various events that have happened. I went to counselling once and stopped because I was scared people would judge me, and tomorrow I am due to start counselling once a week, every week.
But enough about me, and more about the awareness of depression. It isn't something that an individual can just get over. It doesn't help when people say "You're sad again?" or "Just snap out of it." or "Stop thinking about it and be happy." - these expressions? They really don't help. This silent and invisible illness cannot be purley diagnosed with blood tests or CT scans, and it cannot be treated purley with pills and happy memories. Depression hurts, it really does, and I would never wish this illness on anybody, not even my worst enemy. The one thing that can help is having someone to talk to. It helps sometimes when someone listens. It helps sometimes when you know you have people there for you.
To all my followers that suffer with depression, I am here for you, I can listen and I can be there for you, if you want.
I would like to say a massive thank you to one person on IG, who I've never met in person, and lives an ocean away from me, but she knows who she is. She listens, offers advice and is there for me when I need someone. These last 7 months, I don't think I could have got through them without her, so thank you.
And to everyone who has read this, thank you as well. Depression is a widley spread illness, and not many people believe it. We all need to be more aware of it, because people, they need help. Even if it is just a hand to hold.

  •   gabrielleroseee_ 6 months ago I told my parents about depression and it was one of the best choices I've ever made. I get better and better everyday because I am now able to talk to someone, my therapist. If you ever need a second opinion on something or just want to talk I'm here.(: Depression sucks and it won't just go away by the snap of your fingers/: Stay strong and I'm proud of you for posting this and ever speaking up about it 1w
