Like washing dishes! And taking care of the puppy! (any excuse for a puppy pic)

  •   taylorbeecher @misscml well considering they have the largest DNA database of Labradors and have been established since 1931... They are responsible for the preservation of the breed. They also are the source for health testing, studies on the breed (health, behavior, etc.). There is now a blood test available that detects if a dog carries the dilute gene - in this case, Labradors do not. All Labradors that are found to carry the dilute gene can be traced back via their pedigree to two kennels in the 1930s that bred both Labradors and Weimeraners. Weims are the only breed that are dominant for the dilute gene. Also, if this were a true genetic gene that was naturally occurring in purebred Labradors - it would've occurred worldwide by now. The only dogs outside the United States who are silver or dilute, can also be traced back to those two kennels in the US. 2mon
  •   misscml Don't care. My dog is a lab through and through. You don't belong here so take your soap box and head on over to another place where someone wants to hear your opinion. There are two sides yo this argument and you aren't going to gain any ground amongst the silver lovers. 2mon
  •   taylorbeecher @misscml That is fine, I'm just searching to educate. I'm part of a study on the breed and I'm in good standing with my local Labrador club, the LRC, and the AKC. I'm a CVT and second year Veterinary Student and working on genetics at Tufts. There will always be two sides to an argument - or it isn't an argument. But when the proof is right in front of you when you're staring at the results of a test - it's pretty clear cut. Also, last I checked - this was my post. Don't tell me where I belong. Do your research. 2mon
  •   taylorbeecher If you don't have respect for the club responsible for your breed - then you don't have respect for your breed, it's as simple as that. 2mon
