truckersjourney Friday was a very very long long long day! Lol... I started at 3am & didn't finish til the following morning at 3am, and wasn't technically finished but getting the days pick ups back hone & ready for customers deliveries.. I got held up at a few stops & that only became more annoying as the day went, then my last pick up in Vernon Ca ended up taking almost 5hrs to pickup 80 cases of products. It happens & is apart of the job sometimes. Don't think truck driving is an easy profession & all you do is just drive. There's a whole lot of behind the scenes work that's often performed depending on which style of trucking you're into in addition to the hours & hours of driving,. After spending 16hrs of running around making deliveries & pickups, I spent another 4.5hrs of driving back home to get the freight unloaded & sorted for morning deliveries. Running this way requires discipline in grabbing rest & naps in between when you can. I was able to get a few hours of shut eye at the last shipper which works fine for me personally.. Some styles of trucking are not for everyone & everyone has their own taste... Find your lane & what works for you & what you want out if it.. I work this way because it allows me to run 6 or 7 months & take 5 or 6 months off from saving up, and allows me to venture into other interest.. #truckersjourney #trucking #trucklife #roadlife #runhard #lifeontheroad #otr #overtheroad #vsion #logistics #inmotion #america #reallife #thoughts #thewait #thedock #bigtruck #journey #keeppushing 2h

I think itd be nice to a ve a form of " support" advise. I know that it has been a long hard road for us. My husband and i had alot of tounle sepparating buisness from marraige. Sometimes still do, but we have a good grip now. I think all of what you iffer is great, and i dont think it should stop there. So this was just an idea that i had. What do u think? 19min

truckersjourney Sliding the 5th Wheel... Depending on your weight, sometimes you'll find your self sliding the 5th wheel ( where your trailer connects to the cab of the truck) to get your weight correct.. Keep in mind the general rule for weight distribution is 12K lbs on the steer axles, 34K lbs on the drive axles (tired on the back of the truck) and the 34K lbs on the trailer axle to give you a total of 80K lbs on these rigs.. Sometimes the only way to get your weight legal is by moving or sliding the 5th wheel either towards the truck or backwards away from the truck.. This is probably one of the least favorites among drivers & most will try to find the sweet spot, or best location to keep the 5th wheel in place at all times. It can become tedious & annoying having to slide it for every load that's heavy. This is done by letting down the landing gear to the trailer which will assist in the sliding, unlock the 5th wheel from inside the cab of the truck ( one of this buttons you see lol) slowly ease off the clutch in the desired direction.. The weight distribution usually varies depending on the truck, make & model which is why it's important to learn & know your truck thoroughly.. A little Monday knowledge & deeper insight to what we do.. #trucking #truckersjourney #trucklife #roadlife #journey #lifeontheroad #overtheroad #otr #patience #staysafe #freight #logistics #bigtruck 3h
  •   truckerbrad is 80k lbs your gross weight or net weight? 2h
  •   nagman4 These newer axle-back trucks we're using are almost always heavy on the steers @truckersjourney 2h
  •   truckersjourney @truckerbrad gross weight for the most part, some states will allow more weight actually, like up to 102K lbs or so, but as a general rule of thumb 80K is the average across the board. It's interesting because each state differs & if you're running in across the county, you may be legal in one state & illegal in another. How about over there? 2h

dutchess03 It's official...a year and a half/13,500 miles later, my vehicle is paid off. I've decided I will get a truck in Texas. I grew up driving a huge ass bomber bronco, so I'm in my comfort zone in big trucks. I mean baby Liam the Jeep has been good to me but it's time to move on;P I want this Chevy but in black or white. 6h
