• quejimenez @freedom1804 Oh no, of course I don't mind! The current paper I will be looking at The Bluest Eye and tracing the theme of self-love and self-realization for young black girls. The novel is highly challenged for YA literature and my response to that it is that it aptly deals with issues of identity, beauty, race/culture, class that many adolescents struggle with (which is the purpose of YA Lit), but more importantly the novel is pertinent and neccesary for young girls of color who don't often see themselves and their unique issues depicted in literature. My big senior capstone (starting in Sept.) I will be looking at slave narrative by Black women to identify how they change the generic slave narrative form to depict their unique slavery experience. You probably can tell I plan on specializing in Black American Women's Literature. These women make my heart race with their intelligence and strength. I get all nerdy when I start talking about Blk women's Lit.   10mon

From what you've described it seems like your making an important contribution to the literature. This sounds great especially for a senior thesis project. So I take it that your an undergrad? I had the impression that you were working on an advanced degree.   10mon
• quejimenez Thanks for asking! Yes, YA is for young adult...I'm taking a YA Lit class currently. I hope to make a valuable contribution to literature by way of academics and literature! *Dreams* Yes, I am an Undergrad...and hopefully a Grad come January! I am having a hard time choosing programs! And yes, I'm very excited about my undergrad capstone...I already know what I will write my Master thesis on and it supports that.
