twoprime@amarksthespot No, I had my surgery in Texas (at the Ft. Worth Children's Hospital). I was almost 19 when I had the surgery. My procedure was not the Nuss Procedure, which is the most common procedure today. I think mine was called the Ravitch Procedure. Basically, I was cut open and my sternum and most of my ribs were broken and pieced back together. The recovery was slow but I only had to keep the bar in my chest for 12 months. I think the Nuss Procedure is more common now because it is less invasive.
twoprime@amarksthespot I was nervous too but I was determined to have surgery, no matter what the risks were. I had a bad case of PE and psychologically, I was really having a difficult time dealing with it. But, you are right to be cautious and nervous. I suggest that you talk to a couple of different doctors if possible.
