time Anja Niedringhaus, an Associated Press photographer and Pulitzer Prize winner, died today, April 4, while covering the run up to Saturday's elections in Afghanistan. Niedringhaus and her colleague, AP reporter Kathy Gannon, were shot by a uniformed Afghan police officer in Khost Province. Gannon has undergone surgery and is likely to survive.
