  • teruterubozu It's almost the end of autumn - the most beautiful and romantic season of the year! Before the vibrant colors give way to frosty white landscape, make a date with your loved ones and enjoy favorite autumn activities. Head to the mountains, parks or temples - where spectacular scenery of crimson fall foliage awaits. If strenuous activity is not your thing, fret not! Throughout the city, you can get to marvel at the beautiful golden, red leaves adorning the streets. It's a delightful sight that will surely warm your hearts in the chilly weather.   6mon

  • teruterubozu As the 2nd largest city in Korea, Busan has no shortage of accommodation facilities to suit any budget. If you are looking to indulge in a little luxury, however, the Westin Chosun Hotel is an excellent choice. I was there last winter and totally enjoyed my stay. The room was of standard size but it was impeccably clean. With in-room PC, free internet, Nespresso coffee machine and Aveda amenities, comfort and convenience was guaranteed. I opted for park view room. It was cheaper than beach view but still gorgeous. Especially at night, with Gwangan Bridge clearly visible in the distance. Location is perfect as well. Two popular attractions (Dongbaek Park and Haeundae Beach) are right next to the hotel and the subway station is only 10-min walk away.   8mon

  • teruterubozu 짬뽕 Jjamppong. A mixture of noodles, seafood and vegetables in chilli oil-infused soup. This is not a traditional Korean dish. Rather, it originated as Chinese food that had been adapted to suit local tastes. In particular, Koreans' penchant for food that looks fiery red and tastes hot and spicy. Today, it is a popular dish among Koreans and can be found in the many Chinese restaurants all over the country. To satisfy Koreans' love for this food, the instant ready-to-eat version is also available - in both red and white (the original form) soup.   8mon
  • teruterubozu @morningdew9210 I also can not resist hot and spicy food ^^   8mon

  • teruterubozu 송편 Songpyeon. Moon-shaped rice cakes stuffed with chestnut, red beans or other sweet pastes. It is a must-have item during Chuseok (harvest festival) with its shape aptly symbolizing the Chuseok full moon. Tteok is always served during important occasions and gatherings - 1st birthdays, weddings, 60th birthdays, ancestral rites and Seollal (Lunar New Year). When moving house, tteok is customarily prepared and shared with the new neighbors as a sign of greetings. To Koreans, tteok is more than just a delicacy. It is about celebration, sharing and tradition.   9mon

  • teruterubozu 인절미 Injeolmi. Steamed rice cake is pounded to make sticky dough which is cut into small pieces and covered with soybean powder. Other coatings such as sesame seeds and red bean powder are commonly used as well. This is my personal favorite as its texture closely resembles that of Chinese muah chee, which I'm well accustomed to. Tastewise, the difference lies in the coating as muah chee normally uses peanut powder mixed with sugar.   9mon

  • teruterubozu 떡 Rice cake. A long-time favorite delicacy in Korea. If you have never tried it, think Japanese mochi or Chinese muah chee or Indonesian onde-onde. They are all made from rice flour and have similar texture. It is sticky, chewy and somewhat tasteless. However, the blandness is nicely complemented by a variety of sweet fillings and toppings. Above picture is 팥 시루떡 Pat Siru tteok - steamed rice cake layered with mashed red beans. Definitely tastes better than it looks.   9mon
  • morningdew9210 Really???!!!! So surprised!!! I'm Indonesian :)) 반가 반가~~   9mon

  • teruterubozu Koreans are known to take their rice very seriously. They take great care in preparing the perfect serving of rice - delicious, healthy and aesthetically pleasing. It's no surprise therefore to find iron or stone pot (가마솥 or 돌솥) still commonly used nowadays as this traditional method makes better tasting rice. Other ingredients (jujubes, potatoes, beans, etc) are often cooked together in the pot to add flavor and nutrition as well as a touch of color to the otherwise plain-looking rice. Nothing is left to waste either. Even the leftover rice stuck to the bottom of the pot can be enjoyed as a crispy snack or hot water can be added to make delicious scorched rice tea (숭늉).   10mon

  • teruterubozu Doesn't this place make you want to scream 'COOL'? Among the many quaint cafes and restaurants that populate the Samcheongdong area, FATUM is one place you cannot miss. This coffee and wine bar has 4 storeys and each storey has its own distinctive interior design concept. The best spot of course is the rooftop. Enjoying coffee or wine while marveling at the view of the modern buildings and palace roofs with Mount Bugak in the backdrop is an unbeatable experience. Heard that the view at sunset and night time is the best but I reckon with a sight like this, any time of the day is perfect.   10mon
  • ryoojack Cool!   10mon
  • koreanblonde Oh I love this place! It is near the Polish embassy..   10mon
  • rhenthl Here is one of my favorite place in Seoul. :)   10mon

  • teruterubozu @life_in_korea really? Yeah, it's a cool place to hang out!   10mon
  • teruterubozu @rhenthl mine too! In other countries, places with this kind of view usually their menu is pretty expensive. Thats why I love this place a lot ^^   10mon
  • monosync Oh my, you know much more about Korean stuffs! Love your gallery! :)   10mon

  • teruterubozu If you watch Korean variety show 1박2일, you may have seen this stacking of stones being played as 복불복 bokbulbok game (game of luck). Each member takes turns to stack a piece of stone on top of another and the person causing the formation to topple loses. While undoubtedly a fun and challenging game, there is a deeper meaning to it. In Korea, people stack stones and wish for good fortune for themselves and their loved ones. Stone stacking can also be traced to Korean Buddhism where it is believed to be done as a form of meditation given that it requires a lot of patience and balance. This probably explains the presence of many such formations near temples, some of which look like works of art!   10mon
  • teruterubozu @coollcat2 I'm currently watching the weekend drama My Husband Got A Family. It's a family drama so it's fun to watch as each family member has his own problems... I love Lee Sun Gyun in pasta :)   10mon
  • coollcat2 @teruterubozu I love family drama too. "My husband got a family" has very high ratings. I can't find it here so far. I only found it on a Chinese website.   10mon
  • coollcat2 @teruterubozu I am watching " You don't know women" now. I am on 23 episode. It has 109 episodes. I might go blind from watching too much drama soon.   10mon
  • teruterubozu @coollcat2 haha I also become bonkers sometimes after watchibg kdrama. My sis was hooked on You Don't Know Women as well and has been recommending it to me. But the 100+ episodes realky scare me off!! :)   10mon
  • coollcat2 @teruterubozu only 30 mins per episode. Count that as a blessing. Family drama, Assorted Gems and Family's honor are around 50 episodes. Not sure you watch any of these. They are good too. So good to have a chance chat with you today.   10mon
  • teruterubozu @coollcat2 Really nice talking to you ^^ Good to find someone sharing the same interest.   10mon
  • coollcat2 @teruterubozu I am on 3rd episode of My Husband Got A Family. Absolutely loving it. It is very well written drama and characters are interesting.   5mon
  • teruterubozu @coollcat2 haha I'm sure you will not be disappointed... it'll get more interesting as the drama goes on ^^   5mon

  • teruterubozu 아쿠아틱 쇼 (롯데백화점 광복점). Aquatic Fountain Show at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok Branch Busan. It holds the title as the tallest indoor music fountain in the world as registered in Guinness World Records. During the show, water pours down an 18.2 meter column (4-storeys high), making beautiful patterns in harmony with changing background music and color themes. The performance lasts for 10 minutes and runs every hour 11 times a day.   10mon

  • teruterubozu Cheonggyecheon's location nearby Seoul's famous attractions such as Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Insadong and Myeongdong makes it an ideal stop as you go about on your sightseeing trips. There are lots of cafes and restaurants in the area too. After dinner one night, I took a leisurely stroll from Cheonggye Plaza to Dongdaemun. It took approximately 1 hour and was a great way to digest and unwind before hitting the market for some late night shopping.   10mon
  • teruterubozu #cheonggyecheon #cheonggyestream #seoul #korea #청계천   10mon
  • leggonora Been there... Such a beautiful.country... Been there for 4 times... Gonna be my 5th in a month time...is there anywhere in seoul just full of scenery? Places ive been all seems to be bustling with people...   10mon
  • teruterubozu @letsgonora I personally enjoy going to Bukchon Hanok Village. Have you been there? Though you may come across groups of tourists here and there, as you wander around the alleys and walkways, it can get pretty quiet and peaceful. Plus, in some spots, you can enjoy a gorgeous view of the surrounding Samcheongdong neighborhood.   10mon
  • leggonora Nope ive not... Thanks! Will try to visit it when.im there next month ;)   10mon

  • teruterubozu 청계천 Cheonggyecheon - 5.8km restored stream that flows through downtown Seoul. It was originally a natural stream that existed even before the Joseon Dynasty but was later covered to give way for the construction of road infrastructure. Restoration project was started in 2003 and today it is a popular walking path offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. Pictured here is Candlelight Fountain at Cheonggye Plaza which marks the starting point of the stream.   10mon
  • jake_money it's hard to believe that it used to be a highway...!   10mon
  • teruterubozu @jake_money I was in Seoul in 2001 and must have passed by the area but I don't have any memory of it at all since it was so unremarkable back then. What a difference now!   10mon
  • jake_money I agree!! it's so lovely now. they did a really good job with ir   10mon

  • teruterubozu 카페베네 Caffe Bene. A local coffee chain which boasts the greatest number of outlets in Korea at present time. The cafe interior oozes a warm and cozy atmosphere with wooden furniture and racks of books and magazines. Besides the usual coffee and tea drinks, they also serve waffles, which are quite popular. Their outlets are frequently featured in Korean dramas, giving rise to greater awareness and appeal of the brand.   10mon
  • pcess23 Share some photos when you get to try it. :) i'm so jealous that you can eat there anytime soon. I love and miss korea!   10mon
  • ellemei Been to so many Cafe Benes! I miss them. The atmosphere of the cafes in Seoul is like no other - except the coffee remains quite expensive in comparison to everything else, strangely.   10mon
  • teruterubozu @ellemei yup, strange isn't it? Especially when the coffee is usually not that memorable... but the atmosphere more than make up for it ^^   10mon
  • ellemei Yeah definitely. I love the little flashing things you get to indicate when your coffee is ready - my favorite places in Korea were the cat cafes by far - never been to anywhere like that in any other country.   10mon
  • teruterubozu @ellemei cat cafe? With real cats? That sounds soo cool! Where can I find such cafes?   10mon
  • ellemei There's a couple in Hongdae - one called 'Tom's Cat' and the other called 'cats living'. Cats living is the best, as Toms cat doesnt really let you pick up and play with the cats. there's also some in sinchon.   10mon
  • teruterubozu @ellemei thanksss... this is definitely going to be in my list for next trip ;-) In fact i'm googling for Tom's Cat address now ^^   10mon

  • teruterubozu 광장시장 Gwangjang Market, one of the largest traditional markets in Seoul. Although lesser known than Dongdaemun or Namdaemun, it is a hot spot for food lovers. While the 2nd floor is mainly dedicated for textile vendors, the ground floor is packed with stalls selling all kinds of street foods - sundae (blood sausage), jokbal (pigs' feet) gimbab (rice rolls), tteokbokki (spicy rice cake), etc. But the specialty here is bindaetteok or mung bean pancake.   10mon
  • teruterubozu @ellemei hahaha nooo... I'm Indonesian female living in Singapore ;-)   10mon
  • teruterubozu @ellemei seriously? You must had been a LOT overweight! But where and when else can you shop like crazy. Totally understandable ;-)   10mon
  • teruterubozu @rhenthl me too! The mung bean pancake at Gwangjang market is excellent. Too bad I was so full I couldn't try the rest :-(   10mon
  • rhenthl 하하.. 전 아직 광장시장에서는 못먹어 봤어요. @teruterubozu님 덕분에 제가 서울 곳곳을 구경하게 되네요. 좋은 하루 되세요. ^^   10mon

In this picture is Heungnyemun 흥례문, the second gate after entering Gwanghwamun. The size and scale of the gate is striking and adds to the grandeur of the place.   11mon

  • teruterubozu 대추차. Jujube or red date tea. Known to be good for warming the body and treating colds and flu. This one here is from Bizeun 빚은, a charming little cafe at the heart of Insadong, which sells a large selection of rice cakes, many of which look too pretty to be eaten (pictured here is good luck rice cake). Their jujube tea is a must-try. It's thicker than usual and not too sweet.   11mon

  • teruterubozu 육개장 Yukgaejang. Spicy beef soup. Besides generous amount of shredded beef, other ingredients in this soup such as gosari (fernbrake), beansprouts, sliced onions, spring onions and beaten eggs make this a wholesome and healthy dish. Despite the fiery red color, it is not that spicy - at least not spicy enough for my palate. Very tasty nevertheless.   11mon

  • teruterubozu 삼겹살 Samgyeopsal. Grilled pork belly. Usually eaten in lettuce or perilla leaves wrap. I normally like to add grilled kimchi, raw garlic and ssamjang (a special paste for ssam or wrap) on top of the meat and wrap. But you can add other ingredients (green chilli peppers, onions, mushrooms and various side dishes) and customize it to your liking. Best accompaniments: great friends and soju.   12mon

  • teruterubozu 밤바다 참 좋다...특히 겨울에... 해운대 Haeundae beach, easily the most popular beach in Korea and a popular summertime destination. In the peak months of Jul-Aug, this place is packed with locals and tourists alike and rows of colorful beach umbrellas dot the shoreline. Personally I love this beach in winter. When night falls, you can have the place pretty much to yourself. The quietness is romantic, the winter breeze is welcoming, the sound of the waves is comforting...   1y
  • k25orn sure i'll go there when i visit korea next time but i may ask u how to go there?   1y
