• tempestdevyne This cracks me up each year. We can buy copious amounts of fireworks in all our supermarkets but its illegal to set them off.   2w

• tempestdevyne @tiddlyompompom I suppose technically because you might take them to one of the places in Arizona where town laws let you use fireworks on certain days of the year, 4th July being one of the few days. It's so American, heaven forbid local govt. stopping businesses making money but they don't want us using them in case of fires or public nuisance. Just as strange as there being speed signs up but you don't have to do those speeds if you can justify your speeding as safe in court!   2w
• tempestdevyne @tiddlyompompom you'll notice also that you can smoke in supermarkets from the other sign, just like you can ride in the back of a pickup van, ride a motorbike without a helmet, use a phone and text while driving...don't take away people's rights in Arizona! It's a different world here. Don't even get me started on gun & knife carrying laws (or lack of them)   2w
• tempestdevyne @tiddlyompompom oops didn't say why we can't set them off. Phoenix is made up of multiple towns. Some, like ours Chandler have laws banning fireworks being used by public altogether, but if I drive 3.5 miles down our road I can set them off on four days during year (new year, 4th july etc) as I'll be in Gilbert.   2w
