sprikspace An emotional morning for him at a classmate's birthday party. I fear he's becoming more aware of his physical limitations compared to the other kids It's so hard to watch him struggle! He finally mellowed out when it was time to gather in the party room. (It helped that he got to sit next to one of his favorite school friends.) This morning makes us even more committed to focusing on physical therapy this summer - both at home and at the PT clinic. #lifeafternicu #26weeker #grossmotordelays 2d

drpepperward Ok let me try again: while he may have some physical limitations, always remember that he is so gifted in so many ways. For any kid, but especially for a 26weeker!!! 2d

krisrogmack Just remind him of what he's great at that other kids might not be if you see him comparing or feeling left out. Or give him ideas like, if he can't climb that thing at the playground with other kids suggest he run around to the foot of the slide to surprise the kids, help him figure out how to still be involved and not left behind. Just ideas... And even kids with no limit rations feel left out by their peers sometimes, or compare themselves. It can be hard for sure, Ive had a few glimpses into those upcoming situations for Maddy. He'll find a good buddy in every situation, boy or girl, that takes things at his speed too. He's so likeable it won't take him long. Now bring him here so I can give him big squeezes 2d

sprikspace This kid was making shoe shopping difficult with his whining and clinginess, so the store clerk suggested he sit down... on the counter. And there he sat. For 20 minutes. Just like that, watching the other customers shop and purchase their items. It was awkwardly hilarious... and he loved it. #connorsface 1w

sprikspace This little boy is trying really, really hard to be brave. There are 2 angry, barking dogs on the other side of that fence and Connor just wants to enjoy his own backyard (without being afraid or going deaf). It would be one thing if the dogs were only out occasionally, but they're left outside more often than not. And they bark all day long and act like they want to attack the minute we step foot in our backyard. {sigh.} One year it was loud parties that went too late, last year it was deafening, illegal M80s they would shoot off in their backyard... this year, it looks like it's gonna be those damn dogs. I have nothing against dogs or dog owners, but there comes a point when humans trump animals, especially 4yo little boys. I can't have Connor afraid to play in his own backyard. Looks like I'm going to have to go talk to them. Suggestions? 1w

brettstubbs333 There is some kind of bird feeder that you can put in your backyard that left off a sonar blast on a dog parks in that direction. I think I just made up the science of that but I know the product exists :) 1w

twotwentyone Call your police non-emergency line & file a complaint. Our town has a noise violation policy for barking dogs. If you're friendly with other neighbors have them file complaints as well. 1w
