skimbaco Good morning from Billund, Denmark, the birthplace, and the global headquarters of LEGO. Our trip became pretty #LEGOndary when we surprised the kids with a trip to Billund and Legoland, where we will spend the entire day today. These #bikesofeurope belong to the HQ of Lego. 8h

skimbaco Good morning from Copenhagen. We spent yesterday afternoon and evening at the Copenhagen Tivoli. I remember visiting Tivoli when I was a kid and remembered it was incredible back then, and it didn't disappoint us now either. We like Disney World but haven't been big amusement park people. Never even visited Six Flags during the 10 years we lived in the US. But Tivoli.... It's very special. I love how it has the old world charm. #skimbacodenmark 3d

skimbaco My last month was full of travels on three continents, to Texas, Madeira and Morocco, including the Sahara desert. I also spent one night in Copenhagen and two nights in Stockholm.
This picture is from Stockholm from a fun day with my family. We went to see a brilliant new Game of Thrones exhibition at the Armory museum. Later this week we are heading back to Denmark with my family for the spring break.
You may ask why I travel so much, and in all honesty I asked the same question from myself last month. But the answer is easy. Life has no guarantees, and we don't even know which continent we will live the next year, and I don't know how much I can travel for my work anymore.
My husband's contract in Sweden ends in December, and who knows where the next. We are both looking for new opportunities but at the same time wish nothing would change and we could just stay in Sweden. I feel like life is perfect now, and for the first time I am not ready to move to a new country, and just wish to stay, and I literally pray every day that they will continue my husband's contract. I think the appeal of our life at the moment is both: Sweden itself and the fact how easy it is to travel from here. And the bottom line, we are all happy.
How do other wandering hearts make the decision where in the world you live? Sorry for a long post here, I just feel like I haven't had a chance to talk with you enough lately.

  •   skimbaco @strllradvsocal yes, and it was easier when kids were younger to move around. Now we need to think of schools and their future more. It's not as easy to change schools in high school. Our oldest is now 14. 1w
  •   skimbaco @sx3inva I think everyone does what they think is the best for their kids and family, but we just go about it differently :) I do want to inspire my kids too to follow their dreams, and how could I if we weren't following ours? 1w
  •   strllradvsocal Oh yes, our oldest is 8 and youngest is 4. But we do think of being back before the 8 year old is in sixth grade. 1w
  •   mohamadalikhany I wish to you always be successful 1w
  •   nobackpacker We lived in Liverpool for one year (when our son was 10) and in 2015 we will live in China for one year. Son will start uni so he will not come with us. My husband travel a lot with his work and I am lucky to go with him. :-) I think it is possible to travel a lot as long as you have one place which is home, a base. 1w
  •   dagmarbleasdale Hope you get to stay! I love your house there. 1w
  •   skimbaco @nobackpacker Yes, we have lived in several countries and states in the USA because of my husband's career, and will continue to do so. I've just never before felt 3 years is not enough in one place, we've never lived anywhere for longer than that. 1w
  •   nobackpacker @skimbaco oh, that it tough! I am happy we have always had our house, base and home in Norway. When we lived in Liverpool we renter it out, but when we move to China we will not. I think I will need to go home every now and then and it will be good to not stay with my parents. I do love them to bits, but don't want to live with them. :-) 1w
