serota Looking forward to the next stint in Myanmar, when I can finally take @su.mon.cho to ice cream on this "boat" (in real life, not Mary Poppins style). Thank you, Yangon, for being a wonderful home for the past 7 weeks. 17h
  •   libertyandlunch That looks like the the best possible way to get to ice cream ever. 17h
  •   johnprolly Um. How about you just sit put for a little bit. I'll build you a boat to eat ice cream on. 17h
  •   johnprolly @libertyandlunch astronauts do it better 17h

serota I am fully bought into the no footwear workplace after experiencing it these past few months. Little things like this can completely change the tone of a studio. 1d

serota Friday in Yangon - finally caught a local hip hop show. Finding familiar cultural parallels makes exploring the variances so much more nuanced. Not clearly pictured - a full-forearm tattoo, also of Myanmar. 4d

serota Fellow delta commuters. Have spent the past 2 days in villages in Bogale township - each a 2.5 hour trip by boat from dock to dock (each way). Good music, great company and conversation made the difference. 1w

serota My excitement of finally copping a Myanmar hip hop tape was trumped by the excitement of seeing these dudes wearing (potentially bootleg) Mishka around their necks. 2w

serota This man, with his amazing stick-poke tattoos, stopped me on the street to compliment my longyi. I took the opportunity to see what else he had going on. Not shown is a 969 tattoo on the back of his neck, symbolizing his sympathy with the nationalist, anti-Muslim movement. Lurking beneath many of the beautiful people of Myanmar is an undercurrent that has been equated to neo-nazism. A reminder to take nothing at face value. Keep your eyes open, kids. 2w

serota Something happened in the sky today in Yangon. The sun doesn't come out often during monsoon, but when it does, it does things like this. 2w
  •   libertyandlunch Diffraction disk! Indicates high likelihood of rain in the next 24 hours... 2w
  •   jarredpd Atoptics! 2w

serota At the Pakkoku Pagoda Festival, we rode a human-powered Ferris wheel. As Myanmar develops, labor as capital will likely become more scarce, and mechanisation will prevail. We are watching it happen with agriculture; for my sake I'm glad it hasn't yet happened for carnival rides. 3w
  •   toastbrigade So neat! and a little scary but still neat! 3w
  •   cinelliusa I saw this on Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown. Crazy. 3w
  •   lalalasukis I had a dream about being on one of these this week - i presume that was transmitted by you? 3w
  •   serota @lalalasukis I had a dream with you in it last week. Dream tunnel? 2w
