nicolemmelton Detox diary day 4 of 7: Here are the parts to my Omega 8006 to give you an idea of how much work is involved with setup. They are very easy to assemble, take down and clean! It takes me one hour to wash and cut my produce, juice it, and clean up if I'm making about 4 quart-sized mason jars of juice, which is the amount I've been drinking per day.

nicolemmelton Detox diary day 4 of 7: Here's my juicer, the Omega 8006 and I love it! I posted a video of it in action on Vine. It's easy to clean (will show the parts in next pic) and yields a lot of juice per veggie/fruit. I also have a Breville Juice Fountain Plus, and if I had to compare the two, I love both for different reasons. The Omega is a masticating juicer, meaning it crushes produce into smaller sections before squeezing out its juice. The Breville is a centrifugal juicer, which cuts up the produce with a flat cutting blade and spins it at a high speed to separate the juice from the pulp. There's a GREAT blog post explaining the pros and cons of each on the @StraightJuicin website which I encourage you to read if you have more questions.

nicolemmelton Bible study: Hebrews 12, NIV. During my detox I'm studying discipline. How many of us can honestly say there are some goals we should have achieved by now? Is it a lack of discipline that's holding up our progress? Practically nothing in life can be accomplished without discipline. Career success, fitness goals, marriage, saving money, time management... it all requires discipline. Without God's guidance in this area, it can be hard to stay on track. I've learned that it's way too hard to be disciplined on my own. I need God's help. If you've fallen behind on any of your goals, read this scripture and ask God to order and discipline your steps and stop relying on your own "willpower." You can do it. God can help.

- nicolemmelton This scripture TOTALLY changed my outlook on my health. I've experienced nearly every hardship you can think of when it comes to losing and gaining weight. Once I started to really study what the Bible said about my body, I began to nurture it on the inside and out. I started Salad Jamming, working out, and resisting the urge to overeat. It's an ongoing challenge for me, but when I'm tempted to skip a workout or indulge in food I remind myself that my body isn't mine. - nicolemmelton Detox Diary Day 2 of 7: Early morning run to start off the week! Someone asked yesterday how can I exercise without eating. The answer is I listen to my body. I've been juicing since 2010 and have done several fasts ranging from 1 to 40 days in the past. I've also been working out and eating well regularly so I probably won't have any severe detox symptoms. nicolemmelton Juicing tip: separate and save your pulp for smoothies! I label each bag and throw them in the freezer until I'm ready to use. Toss in the blender and you'll have wasted 0% of your veggies and fruit!

nicolemmelton Day 1 of 7: Juice prep for Monday and Tuesday complete! Pictured here:
1. Cucumber, parsley, lemon, pineapple, spinach.
2. Kale, Swiss chard, zucchini, lemon, apple.
3. Watermelon.
FAQ: I have an Omega 8006 juicer. Juice stays fresh for up to 48 hours in airtight mason jars. I'll probably drink 3 to 4 quart jars of juice and 100 oz of water per day. On days I workout, I'll also have a Plant Fusion protein shake/smoothie. No solid foods for 7 days. If you are new to juicing, @StraightJuicin is my favorite online resource. Go to their blog and IG page for great info and recipes.

I store my juice in mason jars because they're totally spill-proof and airtight. I use quart size (pictured here on bottom shelf.) This grocery store is ACME in Clifton, NJ.
