neanyoe coming across the border from #Cambodia into #Thailand must have been my worst experience so far. long story short, they were rude, yelled, herded us around like sheep & the coordinator stole my running shoes attached to my pack (I later realized this) cause I told him he wasn't a nice guy. 20ish hours, a couple buses & a ferry to #KohSamui then here to #KohPhangan later, I've been hanging around waiting for the #FullMoonParty tmrw night. 40,000 people from around the world come to this island once a month for the biggest beach party & like them, I'm here to check it off my list. the rain has followed us but luckily it only dumps once In the afternoon then it's semi clear skies for the rest of the night. I haven't taken many photos as I think I'm growing to more living In the moments so my camera or phone haven't been on my person in days. my travel bud Dan leaves tmrw so as a backpacker having a friend leave means "going home party" & with the groups of friends you make, everyone's in. a nap first then, time to dance #NinoRTW 31min

neanyoe Cambodians have been the nicest people as a whole I've met on the road. I'd come back here any day. it's a spiritual place & if my path had gone a different route, I'd probably be in a monastery right now devoting myself to three months seeking enlightenment. I'll save that for next time, or just another day on this journey I didn't see as much of this country as I did on a "motorbike" through #Vietnam but the bits I did, have me leaving here with nothing but good things to say. doing what I am, I've sacrificed security. I don't have my room to find homage in, I haven't driven a car in months & every single thing I own is in storage. I've given up my bed! who doesn't love being in their bed!? I sleep in dormitory bunks & when I'm not with a travel buddy along the same route, some meals are alone till I click with the next person I meet at my hostel or looking at a map next to me. the discovery and adventure of it all though, is worth every lone step I take. and this is why I'll continue to do it. Now & again & again till my energy on this earth gets put back into the ground to serve again. On to the next, thank you #Cambodia 1w

neanyoe I basically get handed a photocopied book that the students also have & they tell me what page they've left off on.. then I'm on my own. it was intimidating at first as they read my uncomfortable body language & goof off with Legos when I'm not looking but after the second day, backs were straight & they knew who was boss lol. here's where they left off: I first taught them the words: He, he's, she, she's, they & they're. then using pictures, we associated the words with the pilot, police officers, nurse & others portrayed in black & white xerox. We then roll played with each other reading conversations on the pages to practice their pronunciation. Here's the children bettering their handwriting as they copy down my white board scribbles of my character statements. they call out "teacher!" & race each other to raise their hands for me to check when they're finished. Now, this is me having my smile around the room, before the dash around with my red pen. #PointOfView #AngkorTreeSchool 1w

neanyoe Wanting to kill time, I've been in #SiemReap for two weeks now. It's a mid size city based around tourism & Angkor Wat but it's chill with plenty to do & people to meet. After arriving, I sent out #CouchSurfing requests & in the process, found a man named Sokhom who owns a free English school. The children come here for 4 different classes a day on their own time, after Government (Primary) school to learn English. Here's my view as Mr. Niño in front of my 'English Two' class as it's coming to an end. Half are learning the alphabet & the others I can have small conversations with. I love children & have found many things I've done here unforgettably rewarding. They hug & high five me as they leave & we sing songs or play games to better their diction. Another day another dollar some say, but in some instances, you do it cause you can & cause it's just a good thing. #AngkorTreeSchool #SiemReap #Volunteer #Teacher #WhoWouldveThought 1w

neanyoe I've just had a revelation. or maybe I mean, a newer view of things. another from our last day at Angkor Wat - at 5:30p daily, all the temples close & security asks you kindly to speed it up & find he exit. being the last ones there, he asked us if we wanted to see the best view. thankfully saying of course, we climbing passed the "do not climb" signs & found ourselves settled above the hallways of this massive place. here's us, appreciating the view w a candid photo taken by remote. the world is amazing to say the least & the experiences you can gather from them, couldn't be held in two hands alone. #Cambodia - you've been more than a guy could ask for. 2w

  •   raanndy_ @neanyoe negative; us land mammals/anti-amphibious folk get scared ish-less from things we cannot run away from . Are you traveling alone or with friends? I hear the lone wolf status makes it the most immersive. Reading your posts and such is pretty neat; really cool to see the insight you're stacking up 5d

neanyoe I didn't know what to expect coming here. Intermittently through my life I've seen films & pictures of what is known as #AnkorWat but that name is just the tip of this ice berg. the entire park is enormous with temple after ruined temple. The one behind me was probably my favorite. #Bayon - you've seen people running through it (cause we can climb up there) for film scenes with it's giant faces. Angkor Wat had the most impressive engraving detail & the rest well, as colossal as they all are, you MUST just come see them for yourself. #MostBeautifulPlace #Spiritual #Life #Experience #WonderOfTheWorld Mom, I made it 2w

neanyoe In Cambodia, children sell on the streets with or without their parents. they beg & look at you like you owe them something. we don't but as a deed a day, I've tried to buy one of them a meal at least instead of handing them a dollar. they're thankful & I'm glad for it. I've never seen poverty like this with slums (homes out together by scraps) around most corners but then again, I haven't been to #India, yet. here's a toddler we found running around w his friends, climbing on, curious of the world. back at "home," we treat our children like porcelain dolls and antibacterial wipe EVERYTHING. not saying these kids are healthier, but they have been raise above & over the rock, rather than hidden & under it. #Cambodia #TravelGram #InstaTravel #TravelPhotography 3w

  •   annjellyka Very true!!! We saw a kid in Thailand probably 7-8 and he was in a snake show could have been bitten doing really crazy things.. Thinking damn America probably stifles children's growth.. What could kids do and achieve if we weren't so scared to just let them be 2w
