michngIf @alvinkeng ever opens a taichow restaurant one day, it'll be called Restoran Keng Chao. Here he is at one of the islands frying bee hoon with limited resources for 20 people. @jowenloy and I were the assisting kitchen elves. #actsyouthmissions20137h
michngOur mode of transport to the islands. I miss the breeze and the sea spray... even getting soaked! #ActsYouthMissions2013 The boat rides were such a great highlight on the trip :) We even had a birthday party for @seasheal complete with a homemade chocolate cake on one of the boat rides!12h
michngLove. It transforms hearts, individuals, communities, entire villages, people groups, nations... Love; like fire, changes everything it touches. The past one week at #ActsYouthMissions2013 was a big lesson on Love: Experiencing God's love, seeing & reaping the fruits of another generation's labor of love, witnessing sacrificial love in action and learning to love one another the way Christ loves us. We're never the same again.1d
michng //One of the villages we visited and stayed in, where hands of love helped build homes to house the nomadic sea gypsies after the 2004 tsunami.
michngYou make the sun rise above me each day;
You make me brave.
In Love's shade,
I am unafraid.
I'm not afraid. //Catching the sunrise from one of the islands where we roughed out for a night on the floor without electricity. It was a pitch Black & Magical time indeed. *winks to team* #ActsYouthMissions20132d
michngCarefree. #ActsYouthMissions2013 What a week it's been at Ranong. My heart is full and I've been extremely blessed. Just had our night session at the Debrief Camp, where Pr. Kenneth shared an awesome message. Here's a part of it: //What happens on the missions field?
(1) Realigning of vision (2) Resetting of priorities (3) Refocusing of faith (4) Rekindling of passion (5) Reminding of purpose (6) Rebuilding of confidence (7) Remolding of character// Totally. So grateful to God for all that He's done!3d
michngWhen I wasn't watching, two pet monkeys that I adopted during the trip took selfies on my phone and made it my wallpaper. They took the liberty to save their thumbprints on my phone too! #actsyouthmissions20133d
michng Gotta add that these are two very lovable and big-hearted monkeys. ️
michngTil we meet again, Andaman Sea; and hello again, Malaysian soil! Team Ranong & Hatyai arrived safely very early this morning. Those of us who were heading back to work this morning were surprised with this care pack prepared by Joanne Voon, Irene Lau & Ming Yen Chong when we were dropped off at @yvonnechongwp's place ! So blessed! Thank you, girls! I had it for breakfast on the way to work. We look forward to join the rest at Debrief Camp later tonight!
michng"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." John 15:12 A little welcome note and gift from our missionaries here when we arrived yesterday - Vivi, Davi and Ivone (but I totally read it as "Juone" at first lol) Got to chat with them and hear some of their stories today.. Totally inspired by their lives, especially how they answered the call of God, adapting to new cultures, learning new languages, daily challenges and struggles they face.. Yet there is an unmistakable joy and fulfillment on their faces that far outweighs the tough stuff :) #ActsYouthMissions2013
P/S: It has been a really, really awesome experience so far. :)1w
michngTeam Ranong packed snugly in the bus... and off we go! 8 hours to Hatyai & then another 8 hours to Ranong by van ;) With Janet, Schenker & photo bombed by Yvonne! So amazed by the upgrade in infrastructure in Pudu (but still get hustled) and wow, there's wifi in buses now! (that's not exactly working haha) #actsyouthmissions20132w
michngHomecooked porridge(!!) meal by my superwoman helper, Sari who is here for a couple of days! And now it's off to the Youth Missions final training and send off in church, and a bunch of us will depart to Thailand tonight by bus. Excited! Pray with us! (I love my new bowl )2w
lymjanet Wow so many nice "liao" for a porridge... Nice...
michngGod, You are higher than any other. Went to church this morning in Muar. This time not alone... but WITH my parents. God is so good and so faithful. He remembers. He doesn't forget. His promises to us are nothing but true. And this is only the beginning. My heart is overwhelmed - in the bestest sense of the word. #Acts16312w
michng Littlest things that gave me the biggest joy: 1. Mom suggesting that we check out this church in the hood even before I could open my mouth to invite. 2. Seeing them raise hands in worship. 3. Mom asking for help to download the Bible app to her iPad just as I was going to volunteer.
celiners13 Amen, Michelle! God is sooo good with His timing on things & truly He is faithful!
yhlaura That's amazing, mich!! Yayyy for the little beginnings!!
michngHomemade lemongrass teaaaa... sukses! The house smells heavenly. Yums! 2w
michng@charleneanita Charleneeeeee! Added pandan to the lemongrass, ginger and a dash of honey. I prefer it to be more 'kao' like the one we had but my mom and guests like it this way. So happeeeeeeeee!
michngSo honored to be invited to share the stories of what God has done in and for me with the awesome young people of Emmanuel Youth Ministry, Muar tonight - the youth group I grew up in. What a great bunch of young people! A roomful of 30 world changers.. Enough power and potential in that room to impact their families, school, community and nation! I love young people! So very blessed by the adult volunteers who have tirelessly served the youth since I was a teen.. til now! (and that's a loooong time!) They have all my respect! And I'm so grateful for their sowing into my life too - I especially appreciate the many car/van rides given to me. Young people are worth all the energy, attention, teaching and love we can invest into them. // Didn't manage to get better shots but here are some of them about to pray for different needs in the church, nation and world in small groups.2w
michngThat was lunch. Char Kway Teow done in the style of my people - the Teochews. So yums. Every single plate is fried individually and carefully in this little stall along Jalan Arab in #Muar, where we waited 1/2 hour in the shade, enjoying the light breeze. :) The seller's gentle-mannered wife was worried when she saw that we didn't finish our food. "Is something wrong?" We assured her that we were just really full from breakfast ;)2w
