Many of us are inhibited in our daily actions by a voice within that tells us some aspects of who we are isn't worthy of love and recognition. It is because of this need to obscure who we truly are, in an effort to project who we think we should be - that we struggle to form meaningful relations and have real connectedness with others. How can we invite others closer when even we cannot accept ourselves as we truly are.
I want to start a small campaign called I LOVE ME to celebrate our imperfections. For without love and compassion for ourselves - how can we truly find beauty and tolerance in those around us.... Let us come together and celebrate our differences... After all, it is our beautiful differences and not similarities which make us such a unique individuals. Enough with our daily litanies: I'm not smart enough, I'm not funny enough, I'm not dressed well enough... It's time to say firmly to ourselves -- I am me, and that is enough....
I've been a nail biter for years. I've tried futilely to stop this habit, but to no avail. I'm often embarrassed and feel ashamed of my nail biting, especially when I see other girls with beautiful manicured nails --- but in growing old and growing up - I have learned to embrace this idiosyncrasy as something unique about me. It isn't so bad, worse things could afflict me...

looking_glass Jacaranda season is here...
One of my favorite thing about summer in Australia is the blooming of the gorgeous Jacaranda trees. Native to the South Americas and parts of Asia - these beauties were introduced to Australia some time during colonial days. But through times they have certainly become an iconic part of our country.
Here - these branches are still barely blooming - but once they do, it's an absolute spectacle of purple hazy hue lining the quiet boulevards and suburban streets . There is something very romantic about walking down a wide street with trees blooming a spectacular purple sky above you, and the ground is lined with a soft underlay of purple flowers. I took this shot during one of our rare weekday breakfast at the café below our apartment. The heat lamp was still switched on and created a nice contrast against the cool primaries of blue sky, green verdant leaves and the shy purple blossoms - still waiting for their time to shine.
It is summer here in Australia -the sun is shining and the jacarandas are blooming. How perfect!

Hi IG, i am back and this will be a rambling post - hope you don't mind. Hi to all new friends who've recently joined this IG journey of mine. And a big hi to all my old pals - I have missed you all much!
I've been having a funny old wrestle with memories lately. I've been absent here, in order to be more present in life. Creating memories, and re-living some old ones: to better understand where I had been, and hence - to know where it is I plan to go to.
Sometimes, it fascinates me - my hesitation to create new memories - for fear of some kind of displacement of the old ones. For I am my memories -- what are we without them? So to embrace new memories -- is to let go of my old identity... In that newness- there is some discomfort. That discomfort fascinates me... My ego - or, sense of self - have been challenged these past months.
I was in flux - fallen in that gap of limbo between the old & the new. It makes me think a lot about why so many of us are so averse (read: afraid) to change. Why is it that so many of us are unhappy with our status quo, and yet remain so unwilling to change habits or living patterns that clearly aren't working out for us?
For years, I chased relationships and invested huge amounts of emotional energies in them. Only to continually walk away - wounded, confused - having lost parts of my heart and youthful candor to life & love. Slowly but surely, I observed myself becoming a bitter, insecure and cynical individual in matters of the heart... I finally learned that love for others only comes after true love of the self. Love and true self acceptance... We have to know ourselves, and set with intent what it is that we seek in life & love -- and not accept anything less... Only then, will we find true, meaningful & sustainable happiness...
I recognized in my rifling through memories - patterns of old that clearly did not work, which clearly did not make me ultimately happy. I embraced my past failings and moved slowly forward - braving a new world of change: in thoughts, in perceptions, in goals & objectives.
That's why I needed to disappear from here more and more - I have been busy preparing for Spring.
I would like to find time now to interact with this lovely community again. Thank you for your many kind words, sentiments and inspiring ways. It was not only your photos I missed, but your energies, your creative drives and your friendships that always was a silent tug in my heart in all my current life's short-lived chaos. IG is such a phenomenal place. And you guys make it so!
I am back, and I thank you for all your warmth in my absence. It is Spring here - and I'm going to start a new life chapter.
This post is for Memories in all our lives. Here is to the bittersweet ones, the golden days of youth and mistakes - and to the making of new memories - everyday. Let's make memories worth remembering by being true to ourselves and our hearts.

- looking_glass I love my city. Even the trams are cheery! #Adelaide. Dear all, it's been almost 2months I've pulled a disappearing act on you guys. IG must be evolving and I'm sure I've missed so much goodness! What's been happening?!! Life is hectic for me, and I've had to take an extended leave-of-mostly-absence from IG to concentrate on sorting myself out. Everything has been intense and happy and breathless. And all I can do is grin, and take it all in my stride. Life !!! My highlight has been- lots of homecooked simple meals, lots of laughs, lots of hopes, some guitar, some awesome new friends, crazy dancing, crazy stories and... sadly not so much IG or picture-taking. But I've been slowly settling down and have some pics I'd love to share soon. Thank you for your follows, your insane support with the likes, comments and your cheery hellos & self-intros. I am just simply overwhelmed by your kindness and warmth. Please give me a bit of time to sort 'flesh life' out - and I will fit in more time to write back... Big changes ahead: job change, moving home, travel &charity trip plans, signing up for photo courses... All really cool stuff!
