lisamariecorso DISCLAIMER: I don't always exploit my Nonna, just sometimes, like here when we forced her to wash some greens and be photographed for today's @thedesignfiles TASTY TUESDAY. FACT: My Nonna got stopped in the street last week after her TDF debut, pretty sure that makes her Italy's second biggest celeb after Sophia Loren. Just sayin'. 5d

lisamariecorso It's TASTY TUESDAY time again - this week it's Nonna Corso's antipasto with melanzane (fried eggplant), roasted peppers and rapini or the ultimate SNACK STATION. Or in Italian layman's terms: another excuse to eat. Rapini is one of my all time fave Nonna sides, I'm sure if Gwyneth Paltrow knew about it she'd dub it the new kale on GOOP by next week. RECIPE UP NOW on thedesignfiles.net with photos by @evegwilson and styling by @thedesignfiles and assistance by @natturnbull. 5d

lisamariecorso Okay, really, very deeply obsessed with a few things this Monday work day: Listening to the Les Mis soundtrack in the office while the boss (@thedesignfiles) is away, it's amazing what a revolutionary tune can do for productivity levels. Eating miso soup for lunch. AND obsessing over @madeline_kidd 's hypnotic work on TDF today, after visiting her studio last week I've been fan girling non stop. Her show opens at @dainesinger this Wednesday. Pics by @evegwilson #obsessedwithobsessing 6d

lisamariecorso I always wanted to wear gloves in my grown up profession, unfortunately I didn't have the stomach to become a vet or the fine motor skills to become a surgeon, so the only time I can use the white glove metaphor at work is when I'm peddling art for @thedesignfiles TDF COLLECT which opened last night. I also like to dress to match exhibition walls, and keep it real by drinking out of the same Toy Story mug I've had since 1997. Our latest exhibition is with the amazing @_laura_jones_ and is open today until 9 July at 87 Albert St, Brunswick. Come visit y'all 1w

Got the blooms ready for TDF COLLECT 'Shadow and Soul' by @_laura_jones_ which opens tonight, 6-8pm at 87 Albert St, Brunswick. #tdfcollect 1w

lisamariecorso Last night I saw Les Miserables aka my all time fave musical at Her Majesty's Theatre (or The Maj for musical nerds) thanks to @christinaathers at Tourism Vic. I experienced SO. MANY. EMOTIONS. I felt like Fantine with so much love to give. Then I felt like Cossette, vulnerable with eyes full of hope. Then I felt like Marius, with a revolutionary spirit that I was seeing a musical that wasn't GLEE on a week night. Then I felt like Thenardier, when I was drinking celebratory champagne during second act. Then I felt like Jean Valjean, and just wanted a piece of bread. So yeah, basically it was AMAZING. In the totalitarian and authoritarian words of Javert 'Go see it'. 1w

lisamariecorso To dough or nut to be that is the question? If Shakespeare endorses it then it's totally acceptable to eat half a dozen donuts between 2 people, right? Imagine a 2014 retelling of Hamlet: Set against a Brunswick backdrop, Hamlet and Claudius fight to the bitter death, not for the throne or to avenge a father's death, but for a dozen of these bad boys from @alldaydonuts and a filtered coffee. Coming to SparkNotes real soon... 2w

lisamariecorso Sorry to spam but also need to share this pic @evegwilson snapped at my Nonna's house on today's Tasty Tuesday shoot. A study in the true makings of 'a legit wog mantel' or what I'm dubbing a future set from 'Wes Anderson visits the Vatican'. 2w

lisamariecorso SAYYYY WHAAAT?! @Thedesignfiles' Tasty Tuesday just went live and I'm this month's contributor via the wisdom of the original NONNA CORSO. Bringing you flavours from The Old Country. Some stereotypes in this world are so accurate you can’t ignore them. One of them is the whole ‘offending your Nonna if you don’t accept whatever food she is offering’ thing. She will take it personally. The fact is, an Italian Nonna will almost always over cater (it is an Italian’s worst nightmare to under cater). Example – you go over to her house for a casual family dinner for five. She cooks for twenty. At first I thought perhaps my Nonna was just bad at maths, but I have seen this woman calculate percentages on anything marked ‘sale’ faster than Rainman.
First up: Pasta with meatballs. TDF dream team effort for this series with photos by @evegwilson and styling by Lucy / styling assistance by my gal @natturnbull - check the whole caboodle at: THEDESIGNFILES.NET

  •   urbanlistmelb I cannot tell you how much I snorted with laughter (I know, SO becoming of me) whilst reading this post - your Nonna reminds me exactly of my Yiayia. "Oh you just ate? Here, let me make you a little snack then"...cue a minimum 7 or 8 plates. Nonna Corso sounds like a champion. 2w

lisamariecorso 2 SLEEPS TO GO TO TDF COLLECT LAURA JONES EDITION. If there's one thing I love in life it's a countdown. A countdown for EVERY occasion or non occasion. From the imminent arrival of a new baby to the last 10 seconds of a microwave orbiting while heating up soup. Just play Europe's 'Final Countdown' in your head for a truly epic experience. I swear when that microwave dings on 0 seconds you'll feel so satisfied, a feeling comparable to Sir Ernest Shackleton conquering Mt Everest I assure you. This is how I'm feeling now as @_laura_jones_ exhibition 'SHADOW AND SOUL' opens at @thedesignfiles TDF COLLECT this Thursday 3 July, 6-8pm at 87 Albert St, Brunswick. For all presales email lisa@thedesignfiles.net . See y'all there 2w

lisamariecorso Yo listen up here's a story, about a little guy that lives in a blue world. And all day and all night and everything he sees is just blue like him inside and outside. It's obvious Eiffel 65 wrote these lyrics about @xlucasgrogan, and here he is standing next to his latest work in blue wearing only blue when I gatecrashed his studio last night. The cast of Avatar wishes they could wear blue so well. 2w

lisamariecorso If there's one thing The Goodfellas taught me, besides that Ray Liotta can work a two-piece Adidas tracksuit like noone can, it's that you can cook an Italian feast anywhere - even prison. And today I did just that, I spent 8 hours cooking in our studio (I know, I know anticlimactic that it wasn't prison) for next month's @thedesignfiles TASTY TUESDAY with the dream team of Lucy and @natturnbull on styling duties and @evegwilson working the lens. So excited to share this carb fest with all recipes inspired by the original Nonna Corso. I would have got to her cook them all but with her bustling pensioner social life and ritual of watching Days of Our Lives and Bold and the Beautiful religiously her schedule was jam packed. First post up on TDF next week 3w

lisamariecorso Today is the third Sunday I've spent with Team Booth (aka @hijenbooth and @pili_b) in a row so I thought I would introduce them to my team, Team North. They were easily swayed to the virtues of the blue and white, another victory for Team Corso (aka mum, dad and me) and @northmelbournefc. Game tallies thus far:
Four'n'Twenty pie count: 5 /
Four'n'Twenty pastie count: 0.5 as Jen couldn't commit to the potato ways on her paleo-day-off / Hot Chip count: 1 / Diabetes diagnosis from AFL food court: Pending / Broken dreams: TBC. 🏉

lisamariecorso TDF COLLECT 2.0 announced today on @thedesignfiles! Our second show is with amazing Sydney-based artist @_laura_jones_ who also happens to have equally as amazing curly hair - not sure if this contributes to her amazing skills, but let's say it does. Big tidal wave of emails this morning for pre-sale of her show 'Shadow and Soul' - but this little friend which happens to be my favourite is still available - 'Nasturitums in Alex's Vase'. For all sales enquiries / or group counseling sessions tackling themes such as 'why we'll never be able to paint as well as Laura' please email: lisa@thedesignfiles.net 3w

lisamariecorso A STORY ABOUT MY NONNA'S GOOD ROOM: Welcome to my life via the original Corso manor. But seriously, this picture, taken yesterday after being on this planet for 25 years, captures a significant milestone in my life. I FINALLY GRADUATED TO MY NONNA'S SALOTTO AKA 'GOOD ROOM'. This room purely exists for show, it's positioned at the front of her house, with the door always wide open so guests / electrical technicians / friends from her bingo club / relatives get a fleeting glimpse as they walk down the corridor to the rest of the house. This passing glimpse communicates that Nonna can preserve one room and keep it in immaculate condition like it's Marie Antoinette's roped parlour in Versailles if she chooses, but doesn't trust you enough to sit in. Instead we're all relegated to sit on the 3-piece corduroy couch from Fantastic Furniture in the child proof / adult proof / espresso stain proof living room at the back of the house with RAI international's version of Deal or No Deal playing (where instead of gold briefcases the contestants hold cardboard shoe boxes). I once broke into the 'Good Room' when I was three and did a little Matisse magic in pink texta on the drapes. I've been in exile since, but yesterday my sentence finished. And let me tell you, freedom feels good. 3w
  •   cypressfoss Can't believe I've only just found out about your brilliance. Thanks for the half-hour I spent cacking myself at your posts yesterday; I can tell my life just got way better :) 3w
  •   barbarakitallides I love the coffee table! And the salmon Miami vice moduler sofa, this could easily feature in a high end magazine, nonna bringing it back! 3w
  •   lisamariecorso @barbarakitallides I knew you'd appreciate it BK! Did your yia yia have a room like this??! 3w
  •   lucylockit I just read this again AND IT'S SO GOOD 2w
