jkotter "A mouth I came across along the way..." in honor of & a HUGE thanks @80degrees for her incredible advice on exploring Chicago. Had myself a nice little photo walk yesterday afternoon thanks to Ruth's directions. Didn't get to even half of what I wanted, but will be back again in a couple weeks for round 2... 2y

jkotter Saturday Symmetry : Have a good one everybody! 2y
  •   80degrees Skip the observatory at the John Hancock building and take the elevator to the restaurant called the 95th instead. Admission is free and has all the same views. You can get a drink at the bar and take advantage of all the windows. 2y
  •   80degrees Another walk southwest of the hotel can include many gems: 1. Trump tower, on Wabash. Cross the river there and walk west along the river on Wacker for some greats Whose names and addresses escape me right now but you'll see them as you walk by. Head south on Dearborn from Wacker Drive and see the el above Lake Street And continue to see Daley Plaza and Federal Plaza. Daley Plaza has the Picasso, and Federal Plaza has the Calder and the three Mies van der Rohe buildings including the cool post office. 2y
  •   80degrees (That was 3. ) 4. If you want to take some more mile-shots, try also the Willis (Sears) Tower, if its clear. Unbelievable views plus you can step out into glass cubes looking down on the city. 2y
  •   80degrees 5. The lakefront is gorgeous. Any walk there will be amazing. If you halftime or interest for a great skyline shot, take a cab to North Avenue beach and look south toward the city there. 2y
  •   80degrees 6. The Chicago architecture foundation's boat tour along the river and lake is fantastic too. You'll get a chance to see the river locks in operation and get awesome perspective (looking up from the river) shots. I think you can order tickets online and you pick up the boats at Michigan Avenue right at the river next to the Wrigley building. 2y
  •   80degrees I don't think you're staying here for a month so I hope this is enough for you. I hope you have a wonderful time and I look forward to seeing what you shoot. 2y
  •   80degrees 5. Have time, not halftime!!! 2y
  •   jkotter @80degrees Thanks so much for the great info!!! Just got into town and checked in and saw this great info waiting for me 2y

  •   80degrees Wow! 2y
  •   jkotter Kinda prickly! I actually set the timer on the iPhone camera and stuck it in there on the gorillapod. These things are über-nasty and known to "jump" onto unsuspecting folks @80degrees 2y
  •   jenae28 That's cool! It's alive? 2y
  •   jkotter @jenae28 A living plant. The little prickly buds come off with even the slightest touch or strong gust of wind - thus the name "jumping cholla." and you have to use needle nose pliers to remove them - nasty barbs on each spine 2y
  •   ac_escher Lovely 2y
