jcvogt2016 This is Jelena. In the year 2000, my family and I went out to Russia to adopt her. Two train rides and two airplane flights later, we landed in Smolensk, Russia; a small town a couple hundred miles from Moscow. It was in that town that we found her, staying in a small orphanage with only 5 people to take care of 120 babies. This meant that she wasn't given nearly as much attention and love as she deserved. Because of this lack of care, Jelena started to develop autism. Upon arriving at home, we faced several difficulties. She was shy; she didn't like to be held or touched, and we could only communicate with sign language. But there was only one person that she would show affection toward, only one member of the family that she would relax and feel comfortable with, and that one person was me. For some reason, I could understand her, and she could understand me. Over the years, she and I have both grown. I've helped her through her struggles, and she's shown me a whole new definition of courage and strength, and I'm super grateful to have her in my life. appreciating_the_jam_skating I never knew any of this. I always thought she was family blood. You guys act like legit twins besides the fact of different appearances. This was very touching. I can't say much more at all other than that. I showed it to my mom and she started to tear up. YOU are lucky to have a little sister like, and SHE is lucky to be in a family like yours.
