••••••••••••••••••••••••• I juiced a lime, strained the pulp and seeds, and put the juice in a spray bottle. I kept the bottle in the fridge and sprayed it on my underarms every morning after I showered for 5 days.

The results: It worked! I did sweat (naturally you should as it removes toxins which is a good thing!) but I didn't have a musty or bad odor when I did. By bedtime I still didn't have the odor I would normally have if I used natural deodorant. I even forgot to put on deodorant on the 6th day and didn't even realize it until later that night because I didn't stink! The experiment is true! Then lime does neutralize your body odor and kill the bacteria that causes that "musty" smell. It also started to even the complexion under my arms from shaving and hormones from pregnancy that turned them dark and uneven.

I will be making the switch to lime juice! However, I will still occasionally use my homemade natural deodorant from time to time. This may be an option for others who have a sensitivity to baking soda, cornstarch or arrowroot, common ingredients in many natural deodorants (both DIY and store-bought). A word of caution (that I found to be true by the author of the picture listed) before giving it a go: 1) it can sting when applied immediately after shaving, and 2) lime juice and the sun react in such a way that can cause your skin to burn, so absolutely do not apply lime if you are planning on exposing this area of your body to the sun.

This will in fact be my last PB Bowl from Nékter.

I have a strange feeling that I'm allergic or at least highly sensitive to peanut butter as well as other things such Gluten. I'm already lactose intolerant and have been since I was 17.
I will be taking an Allergy Test when I get back to VA. I will post my results once they are confirmed.

I'm highly allergic to my environment. . I had blood test for food allergens but it's not very accurate. Best way to find out if you have allergies to foods is to eliminate them from your diet for 30 days and see what happens. Not all at once, obviously, but one food at a time for 30 days. I did that with dairy and realized I lived better without it 1h

Ethiopian Injera: -to make the starter-
1/2 cup teff flour
1/8 teaspoon dry active yeast
3/4 cup water at 70 F (20 C)

1. Whisk all the ingredients in a bowl or a glass jar, cover with something breathable like cheesecloth and leave to rest at room temperature for 2 days. You should see some rising along the way.
2. Stir the starter – it will smell very grassy, almost in a spoiled kind of way (it might even make you think that it went bad – it likely did not). Resist the urge to throw it away, the smell indicates fermentation and that’s what we’re looking for. You also should see bubbles on the surface. Feed the starter with 1/3 cup teff flour and 1/2 cup water, cover and leave to ferment for another 2 days.
3. The starter may separate into two layers at this point – that’s fine. Stir it and feed with another 1/3 cup teff flour and 1/2 cup water. Cover and let ferment for at least another 4 hours or overnight. After that, your starter is ready.

-to make the injera-
1/4 cup starter from above
1 3/4 cups water at room temperature
1 3/4 cups teff flour
generous pinch of sea salt

1. In a large bowl, dissolve the starter in water. Add in the flour and whisk into a smooth pancake batter. Cover and let it ferment for 5-6 hours. Reserve 1/4 cup of starter for the next batch if desired.
2. Add in salt, whisk again to dissolve and begin cooking the injera. Optionally, you can add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to get more bubbles.
3. Heat a non-stick pan or a skillet with a tight-fitting lid over medium heat. Lightly grease it with vegetable oil using a paper towel.
4. Add about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of batter to the pan, depending on its size, tilting it and swirling the batter to cover the surface evenly. Cook for about 1 minute until bubbles appear on the surface.

Her 1st word was "Hi" and she says that randomly! She is a real firecracker and has so much personality. I love this little girl to L.I.F.E. and I am going to spoil her with love & affection!
I am still breastfeeding but she is on solids as well. She loves Mango purée as well as sweet potato, squash, and zucchini!

It's a lot safer than spraying your shower doors with chemicals EVERY TIME you take a shower to stop the water stains from forming. It doesn't take as much time either.

Boozy Frozen Mocha Popsicles
*makes about 6 popsicles

•1 pint Coconut Bliss Cappuccino Ice Cream
•1/2 cup almond milk (or non-dairy milk of choice)
•1/4 cup chocolate sauce (I use Holy Kakow!)
•2 ounces vodka
•1 ounce Kahlua (Yes, it's Vegan!)

Instructions:
Combine all the ingredients in a blender or food processor, blending until smooth. Pour into popsicle molds and freeze all the way though. At least 6 hours.
If you're feeling fancy, drizzle some chocolate sauce over the frozen popsicles and refreeze for 10 minutes before eating.

  •   mscaramelqueen I also found raw apple cider vinegar to be very helpful when I had a flare up. I'd never really struggled w/eczema, but a few years ago, my skin started acting up! I knew that my diet was the culprit (after research), so I embarked on a mission to cut out/seriously minimize sugar and refined carbohydrates. I started eating more greens and made sure my body was eliminating those toxins (sauna, etc.) and my skin began to heal! I certainly need to get back on track, but these things worked for me. HTH 2d

In my previous skincare post I talked about how I cleared up my hormonal acne after pregnancy. Well, here is an update on my current skincare regimen that has been keeping my combination (mostly oily) skin free of new breakouts and how I've been clearing up the left over scars.
••••••••••••••••••••• • I drink 2 cups of Red Raspberry Loose Leaf Tea a day which helps balance my hormones and as well as aiding in keeping my skin clear due to it's wonderful and many health benefits. You can purchase this loose leaf tea online at: BulkHerbStore.com or MountainRoseHerbs.com -
Side Note: I also eat healthy and drink lots of water which helps greatly! • I then wash my face with Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash - Original for Oily/Combination Skin (I use warm water to wet my face then apply the face wash with a skincare facial brush and in a circular motion I massage it into my face and neck for 1 minute and rinse with COLD water not warm or hot. • I then let my face dry and use a cotton pad to apply BRAGG (with the Mother) Apple Cider Vinegar to my face and neck in an upward motion (opposite of gravity to not cause wrinkles and pull down on my skin). • I then let my skin dry and then put 5-10 drops in the palm of my hand and gently massage Dr. Schulze's Jojoba and Tea Tree Oil (Purchase at: www.HerbDoc.com) in an upward motion into my face and neck.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup finely ground polenta
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 cup almond or coconut milk
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup melted coconut oil
1/2 cup raspberries (or whichever fruit you choose)
optional: a few drops of lemon oil, vanilla, and/or a pinch of cinnamon
more coconut oil or butter to grease the skillet

Instructions: - Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F, with an 8 or 10-inch cast iron skillet inside. (pictured is a 10-inch skillet)
- Mix your dry ingredients.
In a separate bowl whisk together (by hand) your wet ingredients.
- Combine both and whisk together until well combined, but don't overmix.
- Remove hot skillet from the oven, grease it with a little coconut oil or butter (or vegan butter), then pour in the batter. Sprinkle raspberries on top and bake it for approx. 18-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly, then serve hot with ice cream.

Notes: *If you use a 12" skillet or larger, you can double the recipe. (Baking time may differ depending on the size of your skillet and the depth of the cake). *Make it whole grain: Use whole wheat pastry flour instead of the all purpose flour. *Make it gluten free: Use gluten free oat flour, or an all purpose gluten-free baking mix such as Pamela's.

_____ "WHY DO LIMES AND LEMONS MAKE GOOD DEODORANT?

It’s no secret that limes and lemons are acidic. That’s exactly why they act as a great deodorant!

It’s all about your Apocrine glands and bacteria. Apocrine glands release secretions from inside the body. Bacteria, which makes the bad odor, is naturally attracted to these secretions before they leave your body.

When you use lime or lemon as deodorant, you are saturating your underarm Apocrine Glands with the acidic juices neutralizing the bacteria in the secretions with the citric acid. YEA!

HOW TO USE

When you get out of the shower, or wash your underarms, make sure you dry them completely.
Cut a not too ripe lime or lemon in half.
Gently rub the lime or lemon into your armpits.
Let your underarms air dry afterwards as you want the citric acid to soak into your underarm pores to stop the bacteria from forming, which creates underarm odor.
Save in the frig in a marked glass container as you can reuse the same 1/2 for a few days!
Obviously, don’t put lime or lemon juice on freshly shaved armpits! OUCH!
BONUS! The even better bigger picture here is that using “produce” like this for deodorant daily “conditions” your underarms to stop smelling bad. That’s awesome!

ANY DOWN SIDE TO THIS?

Possible side effects: You might notice your skin lightening from the citric juice.
Citric juice can stain clothing. Make sure your armpits are dry before putting on clothes.
Stay away from this armpit odor treatment if you have cuts or are prone to rashes from over drying.
TEST IT OUT

Sometimes the citric acid might be too strong for your skin to handle. Practice using it daily for a week and you’ll see a gradual yet noticeable difference in your underarm odor.

healthy_cravings Attention Parents!!! I need your help! I am trying to decide which baby carrier to buy. I'm torn between the ERGO and the TULA Baby Carrier.
Can anyone lend some helpful advice or reviews on either one if you own one or both??? I need to purchase a carrier that is comfortable for not only the baby but for me as well. Of course the M position matters as it will help support the baby's legs and hips but I need one that supports the back well and easy to wear a child while pregnant too. Any advice is appreciated.
