While blood cells should float freely; platelets need to be sticky. Platelets rush to the rescue when injuries occur. They clot the blood so that the wound can seal and heal quickly. If the blood is too thin, this process cannot happen. White blood cells keep “invaders” at bay by releasing proteins that kill viruses, bacteria, yeast and parasites. healthy_cravings Spicy Oven Baked Fries
Serves 4-5

Ingredients:
•3 medium russet potatoes (about 1.75 pounds)
•2 tablespoons olive or coconut oil
•1 teaspoon garlic powder
•1 teaspoon chili powder
•1 teaspoon onion powder
•½ teaspoon paprika
•½ teaspoon sea salt

Instructions:
-Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (230 degrees C).
-Slice potatoes into “hand-cut” size fries as pictured.
-Place sliced potatoes in a gallon size Ziploc bag and add the remaining ingredients.
-Coat potatoes with the spices and oil by shaking bag well.
-Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread potatoes out in a single layer
-Bake 20 minutes. Flip the fries over and crank oven up to 450.
-Cook 10 minutes, flip again and cook 10 more minutes or until potatoes are crisp and not burnt. -Watch carefully during the last 10 minutes.
Notes: If you want a bolder flavor you can double the chili powder. For more of a bite, try adding a pinch of cayenne powder. Also, it tastes really good when drizzled with fresh lemon juice!

"When cooking oil reaches its "smoke point", it will degrade and oxidize. The "smoke point" is the temperature at which the healthy triglycerides in oil start to separate into fatty acids + glycol. That glycol then turns to a toxic compound called acrolein. You never want the oil you are cooking with to reach it's smoke point! If you are frying, ONLY use avocado oil or coconut oil (i.e. cooking eggs). If you are baking at 350 or doing a QUICK pan sear, use the oils in the middle (I prefer ghee). If you are baking at a very low heat (i.e. veggies or chicken at 300 or below) OR eating an oil raw such as in dressing use the oils on the right, I prefer extra virgin olive oil. Writer Eve Schaub and her family adopted a sugar-free diet for one year and have never felt better, USA Today reported Sunday. Schaub, 43, decided to put her husband and two daughters on a sugar-free diet after watching Dr. Robert Lustig's video "Sugar: The Bitter Truth" in 2010 (visit site below to see video). Dr. Lustig, a pediatric endocrinologist, said sugar is a drug that's as addictive as cocaine. Lustig said sugar causes weight gain, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's and every other degenerative disease known to man. These alarming revelations scared Schaub. "Sugar is made up roughly of half glucose, half fructose," said Eve. "And fructose is the bad stuff. It's the part our body can't process, that turns into fat and results in terrible things happening in our body." 'Sugar Is the Most Dangerous Drug of Our Time'

Eve chronicled her family's sugar-free adventure in her book, A Year Of No Sugar. Not surprisingly, Schaub's daughters and husband weren't thrilled with the idea of not eating any sugar for an entire year, but they made the adjustment fairly well after a rocky start.

Ingredients For Pancakes:

1 Cup coconut flour

2 tsp baking powder

2 tsp Matcha Powder

1 ripe banana

1 Cup Non-Dairy milk (almond, soy, rice)

1 tbsp coconut oil

1tbsp Peanut butter (or your favorite seed or nut butter)

1 tsp sea salt

stevia or agave or maple syrup (as much as you like depends on how sweet you want them to be)

10 grams of Dark Chocolate drops (optional)

Directions:
- In a bowl mix all the ingredients except for the chocolate drops. The outcome should be very sticky. If it is too liquid add more flour if it is to dry add more milk. - Put some coconut oil in the pan and then let the magic begin.

Acai-Filling:
- Blend 1 small Beetroot with a handful of raspberries. Put aside - Mix 1 to 2 teaspoons açaí powder with 1 Cup Soywhip. - Add fresh beetroot -raspberry mix carefully - You can still mix in whole raspberries if you like.

INGREDIENTS:
1 flax egg (1 Tbsp flaxseed meal + 2.5 Tbsp water)
1 very ripe medium banana (~1/2 cup mashed)
1 teaspoon baking powder
pinch sea salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1 Tablespoon almond butter
1 Tablespoon grape seed oil (or sub melted coconut oil)
1/3 cup unsweetened almond milk (or sub other milk)
1/2 cup gluten free rolled oats
2 Tbsp almond meal (ground from raw almonds)
1/4 cup gluten free flour blend* (see notes for recipe, or sub whole wheat pastry flour)
3 Tablespoons non-dairy semisweet chocolate chips + more for topping
OPTIONAL: 1 tsp agave or maple syrup if your banana wasn’t very sweet

INSTRUCTIONS:
Prepare flax egg in a large bowl by mixing flaxseed meal and water and letting set for 3-5 minutes.
Add your very ripe banana and baking powder and mash.
Add oil, salt, vanilla, almond butter, almond milk and stir.
Stir in oats, almond meal and gluten free flour blend until just combined.
Then sprinkle in chocolate chips and fold gently. Let rest for 5 minutes while preheating griddle to medium-low heat. You want it hot but not too hot or it will burn the pancakes – about 300-325 degrees.
Scoop 1/4 cup measurements onto the lightly-greased griddle and gently spread to make a pancake shape. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. You’ll know they’re ready to flip when bubbles form on top and the edges appear dry.
*Note: These need to cook slower than regular pancakes because they’re more dense and take a bit longer to get cooked in the middle. So if they are browning too quickly, turn the heat down.
Serve as is or with a small drizzle of maple syrup and a few additional chocolate chips. Leftovers re-heat well in the oven.

For the Chocolate Filling:
Mix 1 vanilla or plain Vegan yogurt with 1 tbsp of Cacao powder

Chocolate Sauce:
Mix 1 tbsp coconut oil with 1 tbsp of Hazelnut chocolate spread.

INGREDIENTS:

For the broth:
•4 cups vegetable stock
•Thumb-sized piece of ginger, peeled + sliced
•2 green tea bags
•1 tsp tamari/soy sauce

For assembly:
•5-6 leaves of kale, stems removed + discarded
•3-4 radishes
•1 small shallot, peeled
•2 cups cooked navy, cannellini or other beans

For garnish:
•1 lime, cut into wedges
•Handful cilantro leaves
•2 green onions

PREPARATION: - In a saucepan over medium heat, bring the vegetable stock to a boil. Lower the stock to a simmer and add the sliced ginger, green tea bags and tamari/soy sauce. Simmer for 2 more minutes before removing and discarding the green tea bags. Keep broth warm. - Finely shred or slice the kale leaves and place them on a platter. Then, thinly slice the radishes and shallot (with a knife or a mandolin) and place them on the platter as well. - Portion the beans, kale, radishes, and shallots among 4 bowls. Slice the green onions thin and place them on a serving plate with the cilantro leaves and lime wedges. - Bring the ginger green tea broth to a rolling boil. Strain out the ginger slices and pour broth over the bowls with the beans and vegetables. - Stir each bowl up a bit so that everything is saturated with the broth. Garnish with lime juice, cilantro and green onion slices.

•1/2 cup yellow onion, diced
•1 1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced, divided
•1 Serrano pepper, diced small (seeded if you don’t like spicy or omit entirely)
•2 tablespoons minced garlic cloves
•1 1/2 cups corn (optional)
•3 large russet potatoes, peeled, cubed and boiled
•1/2 cup vegan sour cream
•3/4 cup vegan cream cheese, room temperature
•3/4 cup shredded vegan cheese (cheddar or mozzarella or a mix!)
•1 teaspoon cumin
•Sea salt and pepper, to taste
•1 cup green onions, sliced, divided
•1 (28-ounce) can tomatillos, drained and roughly chopped
•2 cups Hemp oil (or preferred high heat oil)
•8 (8-inch) flour tortilla
•1 (12 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained well (vegan black refried beans are great here too)
•1/2 package of Gardein Chick’n Strips, thawed
•1 medium to large avocado, halved, pitted and mashed
•Shredded vegan cheese, for garnish (cheddar or mozzarella or a mix)
•1/3 cup chopped cilantro, for garnish
•Toothpicks

Over medium-high heat, add 1 tablespoon of the olive oil and sauté yellow onion, half of the red bell peppers, and the serrano pepper, to a large saucepan and cook for about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and sauté for about a minute more. Turn off heat, add in the corn and set aside.
In a medium bowl, mash the potatoes with a fork or masher, then fold in the sour cream, cream cheese, cheese, cumin, salt and pepper. Stir in 1/3 of the sliced green onions and add into the corn/pepper mixture. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper. Keep warm. (Recipe continued in next comment...)

1 serving, adjust to taste if necessary.

· 1 cup of cauliflower florets
· 1/2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil or hemp oil
· 1 minced garlic clove (to taste)
· 1/2 cup unsweetened and unflavoured almond milk (or non-dairy milk of choice)
· 2 tablespoons of nutritional yeast
· 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
· 1/2 small onion
· Sea salt to taste
· Pepper to taste
· Fettuccine pasta of choice (to make it gluten free use gluten free pasta!)
· Fresh parsley/basil/rosemary

Cooking instructions: · Add cauliflower florets in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a low boil. Once boiling, cook for another 3-7 minutes until fork tender. Drain.
· Meanwhile, add the oil into a skillet and saute the minced garlic and onions over low heat for 2-4 minutes until softened and fragrant, but not browned.
· In a high speed blender, add the cooked and drained cauliflower, sauteed garlic & onions, milk, nutritional yeast, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Blend until a super smooth sauce forms. The key here is to get a really smooth sauce so don’t be afraid to let it run for a minute or so. Set aside.
· Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add your desired amount of pasta and boil for the time instructed on the package. Drain pasta.
· Add cauliflower sauce into the pot (you can use the same pot!) and add the drained pasta. Heat over low-medium until heated enough to your liking. Salt again to taste (the pasta dilutes the flavour).
· Serve with fresh minced parsley/rosemary/basil and black pepper. Feel free to add in your favourite sauteed or roasted vegetables.
