folkfibers First project for Ada. Hand quilted her bassinet liner uising Khadi cotton. Khadi is homespun cotton cloth woven in India.
Gandhi had a vision and Khadi became more than a cloth but a movement, a way of life independent of foreign rule. He saw spinning and weaving as an occupation to bring high and low, rich and poor together, to show them the dignity of hand-labor.

folkfibers Working on a sashiko stitching sampler with the Iowa Quilt as the backdrop - hand-dyed cotton with natural indigo and indian mungeet root. Mungeet is a variety of madder but yields darker reds. I'm looking for mungeet seeds if anyone knows a source, please hollar!
