etst "Behavior is the mirror in which we can display our image." -Mahatma Gandhi
The last few days of social media speculation, meanness and anonymous bashing have been interesting to watch--some insightful conclusions to be made. I can separate the small representation of the "who I am" social media represents from the real me to take this all with a grain of salt, but can you separate them? While I hope my online presence reflects my true self (faults and all, baby), there's so much of one's life we don't see online. But when people return to a feed, an online space, a blog, etc. simply to talk smack, be mean, look for faults, create stories to make themselves feel better, get fodder...it says far more about them than the person they're following. Behavior is a mirror to one's self.
I choose to put my online energy into sites and feeds that make me happy. What's truly amazing is the people who keep coming back--obvious long time readers and snarkers--memorizing every photo, every story, every nuance--pouring energy here. You've given me so much space in your brain! Imagine the good that could come from putting that energy in a better place.
The online world is still new and strange and wonderful and weird all in one. I'm happy to have a small part in shaping what I want it to be, and I hope my contribution is always one that is kind, true and respectful.
Have a happy Easter weekend! May you be seen and heard by loved ones and may you take the time to see and hear people who need love.

  •   angmarie13 Kelle, I'm a 23 year old that has been following your blog for the past couple years! I just want to say that as a new blogger myself, I find you so inspiring. Your posts have made me laugh, cry, and truly think about the meaning of life. All of that through the Internet! Who would've thought?! I hope you realize the energy that you've given to the online world has been honest and meaningful to a lot of people! Thank you for sharing what you do and also reiterating that there is a true difference between an online presence and real life. It's quite sad that people who speak negatively can't pour their energy into something happier. 2d
  •   lindanargi1 I haven't seen any speculation or meanness. What I have seen is a community moving through betrayal and hurt on their way to healing. Thank God there is healing after being duped and betrayed for years. 2d
  •   ambersembers I'm baffled that these haters have so much time on their hands to keep up with this feed...they sound jealous. 2d
  •   ambersembers Happy Easter, Kelle! Thanks for being a wonderful inspiration! I love reading your blog. 2d
  •   sealbark @lindanargi1 I got lost with your comment. You aren't referring to Kelle but the drama that unfolded last week on fb, right? 2d
  •   multipleblessingsphotography Great post @etst . I gave up my personal fb page for a little while 1d
  •   lindanargi1 @sealbark it's possible we are not talking about the same issue. If that is the case I apologize for the misunderstanding. As for the drama that unfolded last week the bashing of people who had the courage to stand against unethical practice has been surprising and sad. It touched me personally and has been a very painful ordeal. 1d

  •   charityrauls It's good to see you standing up for yourself Kelle. I definitely believe silence can be golden in certain situations, but sometimes we just need to shut people down and let them know it is not ok to mistreat us. I think women in particular are so indoctrinated to "keep the peace" and let our actions speak louder than our words and to apologize constantly. I recently realized I was "sorrying" myself silly. We apologize for being us, for taking up space in the world, for being an "inconvenience." And one thing I want my daughter to know is the only time she has to be sorry is when she does something legitimately wrong. And that it is OKAY to speak up for herself. Anyway sorry for my novel, just wanted you to know from a longtime reader that it is honestly refreshing to see you NOT take that bullshit sitting down. 5d
  •   anzlv @mom_to_four_boys ...your a twat. And a perv!!!! In a beautiful pic such as this, who would focus on @etst shorts and labia...what a wierdo. The rest of us saw a beautiful family and a glorious beach. I normally dont reply to idiots, but you my dear need a good firm talking to about bullying your fellow females. 5d
  •   withalittlemoxie Holy mother! What a thread. Glad you are standing up for yourself, @etst . 5d
  •   mom_to_four_boys @anzlv *you'RE illiterate. I love all the stage 5 clingers just dying for kelle to respond to them, but the only thing she ever responds to is her alleged "haters." It's so sad to watch the mental midgets just dying to get noticed. Bless your heart, illiterate one. 3d
  •   jessicaashlee15 I love this photo! And why people would even bring up such a thing in such a perfect pic is beyond me? Your photos inspire me @etst ! And your babies are beautiful!!!!!!! 2d

etst Went to write a post tonight after a long break and still can't seem to finish or fully put together thoughts about #writedoebay. It took two plane rides, a 2-hour drive to a dock, a 1-hour ferry ride to an island and a 30-minute drive to a remote spot on that island to discover this environment that unlocked so many stories and honored them with kindness. Why is it so hard to create that in real life? To tell our stories every day, our hearts unprotected by pacts and key ceremonies? Because that's where our stories are needed. (Thank you so much @jesse_michener for capturing this sweet moment with my @heidiwish) 1w
  •   erinbettis I spy a mama nest necklace. 1w
  •   suburbanmom81 @jesse_michener -- it seems most people are coming out with a sad story, yes one of overcoming something dramatic, traumatic, or something tucked away. Did any upbeat, comedic, or fun stories come out? 1w
  •   jesse_michener There was one night where the muscles on the behind my ears hurt (I didn't know I had muscles back there) because of the laughter, @suburbanmom81. It's not like we're all sitting around, wallowing in grief or our past. It's about unlocking, breaking through the bullshit that screams you can't or shouldn't or all the ways we limit our creative process with excuses. While there's a lot of tears, they are not pure pain (or joy or pity or ___). They just happen to be the product of seeing things more clearly. 1w
  •   bshudson To have a friend like that is what every woman wishes for. You both are extremely lucky to have one another.. Hold on tight. :) 1w
