danrubin Duden Waterfalls, Antalya, Turkey.

This one was a complete accident: Shooting with CortexCam's 'Remove Motion-Blur' turned off to smooth the water (as I had with other waterfalls previously), the movement of the leaves in the wind caused an odd blur that looks like something from a view camera (this is *not* an effect added afterwards). Love the near-tilt-shift effect, and wish I could intentionally create this in-camera from time to time

danrubin Let there be light (and whenever there is, let there be a portrait photographed ) #makeportraits

It's been brilliant having Georgia around London for a few weeks before she continues her adventures elsewhere — if you ever cross paths with this one, count yourself lucky (and prepare to find more patches of amazing light than you're used to).

danrubin It's @georgiakatee time!

Pedlars (@pedlarsworld) invited a handful of folks to the launch of the @goodlifeexperience festival earlier today: music, coffee, and amazing designery products — oh, and this light

  •   danrubin @geerhee I didn't actually go into the aquarium, ran out of time Such a great area though, what did you think of Orient station? 1w
  •   shazznaay Beautiful 1w
  •   geerhee I absolutely looved Orient Station! Beautifully and well designed. So vast and open so that you forget it's a transport hub. Loved the contrast of light and dark spaces and everywhere I looked I wanted to take a photo :) I'm in the midst of posting a few. And yes that area was such a treat! 1w

danrubin #thepostcarddiary

This is one of the best ideas to have hatched through Instagram yet: Brock Sanders (@mrbrock21) is sending postcards to people around the world (to anyone who asks), who are in turn posting photos of the postcards they receive. I got this amazing Giant Woman in the post, and can't thank Brock enough for sending me something that was right up my artwork alley

danrubin Grab a chance and you won't be sorry for a might-have-been. — Arthur Ransome, "We Didn't Mean to Go to Sea" ⁂

This favourite quote of my maternal grandfather runs circles around my mind now more than ever before. In two weeks I will have been based in the UK for a year, and I couldn't have anticipated any of the amazing things that have happened in that time, nor how quickly it has passed.

What I knew from the outset was that I would meet amazing people, be inspired by new places and experiences, and come out better for it on the other side.

Thank you for being part of my adventure.

danrubin This is Khalid (@khalidbinhamad), earlier today at the Tate Britain.

Khalid is a photographer from Qatar and lover of the desert. He walked into the Leica store in Mayfair just as I was leaving yesterday, and after a quick conversation about film photography, he asked if I would be available to shoot his portrait today — saying 'yes' to things is a great way to meet new people and experience life in an open way, so this afternoon I shot film portraits (Polaroid and Hasselblad) and a few on the iPhone, in the lovely light inside the Tate, while getting to know Khalid and his passion for film photography, art, fashion and the desert.

Check out Khalid's feed (@khalidbinhamad) for another portrait with his SX-70, and my VSCO Grid for one more.

danrubin Georgia (@georgiakatee) enjoying a brief pause and a G&T under a skylight in the Ace Hotel. / My shot, Georgia's edit.

I enjoy seeing occasional collaborations in my feed, but I've never felt like taking part: there has always been something slightly impersonal about it for me; something I couldn't put my finger on, but that kept me from reaching out to others or accepting requests to collaborate.

This evening, while at dinner with a few friends following my Apple Store talk, I decided to hand my phone to Georgia to see how she would edit this photo I shot of her earlier today (I had already posted a version of it to my @VSCO Grid). I loved the resulting image so much I decided to post it without any additional edits of my own, so this marks my first collaboration on Instagram — and sitting next to the person doing the edit, who was also the subject of the photo, felt right.

danrubin Hello London! I'm starting a series of free monthly talks at the Regent Street Apple Store: "Meet The iPhone Photographer" — each month I'll invite a different photographer to share some of the stories behind their favourite images, show their editing process, and talk about who they are and what they do (there will also be audience Q&A). Each evening will also be recorded and published on Apple's podcast channel, so everyone will be able to enjoy it even if you can't attend in person.

The series starts this Thursday evening, and I'll be the first month's speaker — the next 5 months have already been planned, and there are some fantastic photographers lined up. I'll announce July's guest and date at the end of Thursday night's session, and post about it here closer to the date.

Space in the theatre is limited, so if you're in or near London, head to apple.com/uk/retail/regentstreet/ to reserve your seat — see you there!

danrubin If I didn't shoot a new photo for the next year, I could easily post one a day from the last month's visit to Turkey.
