caseychappell Most days I'm reminded of the joy that being their mother is. But today I'm running to God often in my thoughts and confessing that I need Him in my parenting. I think whenever I take them out I'm just struck by the fact that I'm raising little humans who will be a part of this big incredible but broken world and honestly, I'm overwhelmed at all I'm not and how much they are dependent upon us to teach and train and love them well. And y'all, even things I'm committed to and convicted on in raising them by is scary because well, nobody has the manual to perfect parenting and taking risks is hard in this phase of developing and nurturing. It's a lot of sowing and praying that the harvest will come. Today I'm choosing to parent out of the abundance of love my Father loves me with. No matter how much I doubt His faithfulness and think my way is better and way more fun, He is faithful and gentle to pull me close to His side and remind me that He wants my joy to be greater than I could ever imagine...and that joy is found in being tethered to Him!! Now, Zoe, Jack, Ezra, Evie, Abel hold my hand and let me guide you through the most awesome and challenging times ahead...trust me, not because I'm perfect and know what lay ahead but because we are loved and held by the One whose loving plan for us can not fail and who is already in our tomorrows. 5h

caseychappell Shortly after our first date we mutually decided that we weren't at a place where we could get serious with each other despite our affections for each other. We were just at different places in life, spiritually and socially and well we both needed to run hard after the passions God had placed In our hearts. So we did...Dan worked with a youth group and helped lead a group to Brazil on a mission trip and I went on one to Romania/Prauge with the church where I was a children's minister.
About a year later, not sure if it was the spring in the air or what but our hearts gravitated back to each other and right before I left to be staff on a traveling kids camp for the summer we went on our second date and decided we'd give this dating thing a chance.
I left for the summer but came back for a friends wedding mid summer. We attended together and promptly afterwards he broke up with me. (Was I ever going to get more than one date in a row with this guy?) I didn't understand why at the time, but he knew I was probably in this for keeps and I think the wedding scared him when he thought about what may lay ahead...he wasn't ready for that.
I was crushed...and boy did everyone know it. I quickly developed Team Casey and that year I met some of the best friends I could have ever asked for. Dan continued to disciple and be discipled as he led youth group at church and started working at a local bagel shop. We'd see each other around campus but mainly focused on our individual walks with God. I'm Sooo thankful for this now!! I had gone home to Alaska for Christmas break which was almost a month so I guess that was just too long to go without seeing me so he started calling me....our conversations were like good friends. I was in a pretty good place and was quite happy being single at the time so I was pretty shocked when I got back to school and he came over that day and professed his love to me. But it was my turn to be scared I guess... I turned him down. And by the time I would realize that I loved him too it would be too late. (Or so we thought).... To be continued. #chappelllovestory #part2

caseychappell @loreferguson love this!! So very true! Keep folding those napkins girl, for in it you are expectant for God to work mightily and tenderly in broken hearts that have yet to sit at your table and the grace that He has yet to but will provide at that table! #desperateanticipation 4d

caseychappell We brought the kids to Barnes and Noble tonight and I picked out some books and they picked out some and we met at the reading table....I was surprised at the difference between my picks (left side) and theirs. (I think we need a tv show break!!) 5d
  •   living_a_simple_life This is SO my life right now;) 5d
  •   bursnspurs We love the pigeon books!!! 5d
  •   akdavis333 I recently had the same book selection realization with Will's go to books. I've been keeping my eye out for non-tv/movie books to mix in. We'll see how it goes over with him! 5d
  •   millieholloman I would have picked your selection for sure! So classic! Love classic books! 5d
  •   wallest02 We approach bookstores and libraries like a grocery store - there are sometimes books and anytime books. (Junk and healthful). When their minds are full of quality lit and inspired by real ideas - if they want to, they can top it off with a small "junk" book. It has worked so well over the years and just as I don't feel bad when they want 2 or 3 doughnuts and I withhold it from them - when they do beg (hasn't happened in a while, though) for extra books with few redeeming characteristics, I don't feel bad limiting that, either. Their minds need nourishment too and it's soo easy to let the easy and empty stuff fill them up - but so glad you got a variety of other things with ideas that will inspire and last. Blessings :) 4d
  •   caseychappell @wallest02 great way of looking/thinking about that!!! Love it! Hopefully this felt like a donut shop to them since we mostly have classic kids books at home. But love that balance concept!! 4d
  •   wallest02 @caseychappell so glad :) Friday night treats ️I love it too (Charlotte Mason talks a lot about ideas being the soul's food). The other day, Elisha chose half price books instead of the frozen yogurt place for dessert - so there are some amazing things happening here using this concept. It reminds me of the Scripture that talk about eating the Word. 4d
  •   amersblade Thanks for the idea, I need to apply this to my own reading and devotional time! 2d

caseychappell While ALL 5 kids are napping (that hardly ever happens!!!) I'm joining @naptimediaries & @thetinytwig for another #fridayintroductions where we remind each other a little about ourselves to deepen this awesome IG community we have!! As a recap...I'm a mom of five adopted babies and have two biological babies already in glory. I'm passionate about photography and developing traditions and radical hospitality...all as ways of documenting and pointing others towards the greatest love of my life Christ!! Today's question is What things do you want to do but find them challenging and not easy to do? 1. Cooking, thankfully a married a guy who used to be a chef, but oh how I wish I was a natural in the kitchen. I wish I didn't feel like I was wasting time doing all the prep that goes into it all...I know it's worth it, It's just not easy for me. 2. Doing crafts with the kids. Even The thought makes me tired. When others do crafts with my kids I cherish that more than they know!! (Now doing crafts without my kids...I love that!!!) 5d
  •   stephsensei Thank the Lord for men who cook! I'm very thankful my husband loves cooking healthy meals for us on days that he can. 5d
  •   caseychappell @ritzbitz78 just post a selfie and link up with the ladies I mentioned and do a #fridayintroductions post!!! Or you can answer here too! 5d
  •   angeyprice You're so pretty!!!!!!!!! 5d
  •   __katiew__ Gorgeous!! And I dislike (hate) cooking and crafting also!! And I love photography. Kindred spirits. 5d
  •   veroniquepetersen Stunning selfie! 5d
  •   melimpea @caseychappell I agree-I love this shot of you! And I love to read what you write- can't wait for the next installment! And two in glory...I'm sorry for your second loss! :( 5d
  •   caseychappell @melimpea thanks girl! Love keeping up with your awesome life too!! I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks the day before thanksgiving 2012. It was painful but He sustains and heals!! I was going public the next day (my family didn't know yet) but alas He called that little one home, so then it was a slow sharing over the next few weeks. And I just didn't talk about it online. I wish I had been more open about it all earlier, but when I got pregnant I went into this strange hibernation type of feeling and I think it was just a mixture of fear and grief and new feelings. But when we lost the baby it truly was a special time of pain and loss but yet feeling those intimate strong arms of comfort that I knew so well in years past and had missed as life moved on. 5d

caseychappell Happy #nationalsiblingday So glad these crazies have each other to love, argue with, fight, stick up for, taddle on, get annoyed by, tickle, tackle, pretend with, sleep with when scared, race, sing and dance with and to grow up always knowing that an incredible good sovereign God chose them for each other's lives! He knew we all needed each other in ways we have even yet to experience!! #adoptionisnotplanb 6d

caseychappell Not always happy moments around here. (They totally tackled each other, hair pulling and screaming and rolling and everything... over a toy.) They both are in trouble. But I think Jacks met his match! Evie is one tough broad!!! (Even in a dress I had to pull her off him) #everydaywithevie 6d

Normal Casey Chappell
caseychappell #tbt This was Dan and I about 8 years ago on a trip to NYC!! We met in college, spring of 2000. I took his school ID photo...he says he remembers me from that ️, but we officially hit it off at a mutual friends birthday party. We had lots of classes together that semester and after one of the finals we went and grabbed ice cream and shared how we became believers. I had been raised a preachers kid most if my life and was really good at being good for good sake not because I had been set free to obey out of love. Dans heart had been changed the semester before and when he thought about all the people who had tried sharing the gospel with him before he knew quite a few of them had gone to the seminary there in wake forest NC. so he quickly enrolled in their undergrad program. So in a way we were kinda from very different backgrounds. Later on our first official date dan said he felt like he had been on an interview. I had never dated anyone so I guess I probably came on a bit too strong in trying to find out what this guy was like. But there was no doubt I liked this guy!! That first date would be our last for another whole year.... To be continued. #chappelllovestory 6d
  •   cocobleuphoto Casey, we live 10 miles from the seminary! You need to come visit :) 6d

We have missed her so much the past 3 years.
