betteroffthread Organizing. I really don't think I'm allowed to start something new until I finish all of this. Do you ever wonder what that would feel like? 3h

betteroffthread So here is my terribly embarrassing fabric stash, which has been in my garage since we moved back. It's being upgraded to that wardrobe, but the plastic drawers do not fit. Any ideas for organization? 3d
  •   modquiltgirl_anna Yep I vote for comic book boards, super cheap, around 100 for $14 3d
  •   betteroffthread @modquiltgirl_anna @capitolaquilter @sugarbeanstitching that sounds like it would be so pretty to have them on boards, but I don't think I would have the patience to do it! I have mostly fat quarters and there are hundreds. 3d
  •   pinprickedfingers Whichever way you go, it'll be fun digging in and finding all your pretty fabrics again! 3d
  •   jennifermaydesigns I usually use ziplocs, but those can get slippery on shelves. 3d
  •   dlhauser Ikea makes plastic bins that i use for everything- they are usually skinny enough to fit! 3d
  •   annoriginal265 Forget the card which can get pricey if you get the acid-free ones. Just stack the fabric with the fold facing out. Adjacent stacks will help keep each other upright. I did not come up with this idea. Check for tutorials there are plenty of them. Good luck. 3d
  •   flourishingpalms Agree with @annoriginal265 Spend your money on more fabric, not cards. I like my canvas bins from Home Depot. Available in Martha Stewart colors. @betteroffthread 3d
  •   gapquilter I use the comic boards and have spent a total of $18 for 200. I don't have to wrestle the other fabrics to pull one out, I can see all my fabric, it's pretty, and I use it! I keep scraps in bins, FQs all folded the same way and stacked. Anything bigger goes on boards. I love my fabric and don't mind spending $20 on it to store it properly and to make using it more convenient. #justsaying 3d

betteroffthread Liam only ever draws trains, but this morning he drew Peg + Cat. I love watching his drawing skills improve over time and I'm pretty darn impressed by this! #pegpluscat @pbskids 7d

betteroffthread I checked my FB feed and on the Quilting Club page is a quilt I designed for @robertkaufman! I don't know who sewed the quilt to give them credit, but that's pretty fun to see! The free pattern is on the RK site: "Holiday Dash". 2w

betteroffthread Why do my carrots look like this??? 3w
  •   betteroffthread @fun_with_fibers they didn't look like that in the picture! They are supposed to be 6-12" 3w
  •   michaelafholtz The soil could be too compacted below 3 inches. They stopped growing down and rather got wider. OR not deep enough watering. 3w
  •   betteroffthread @michaelafholtz ah ok. I'm going to guess watering. It's a raised bed with organic potting soil, so I don't think it was too compacted. 3w
  •   clayrobeson It's not how big they are, it's how you use them... 2w
  •   fun_with_fibers @betteroffthread ..like @michaelafholtz said..then probably because the soil is too hard. They remind me of the ones I plant in our clay soil. Still really yummy!! 2w
  •   kennaquilts Carrots in raised beds never get as big. It's the nature of raised beds. :) 2w
  •   adnohr09 Did you make the bed double-high? That's what they recommend in the square foot garden book. 2w
  •   betteroffthread @adnohr09 it's a three level garden and it's on the second level, so I guess it's double high. I'd have to compare to the suggested depth in square foot gardening. 2w
