bcojoe Cross posting to Facebook, just to reiterate that if I do post from Buffer, I won't respond to any comments until after I'm officially back on Facebook next week. I'm just using Buffer as a ... buffer to be able to give my Facebook friends some updates from camp, without actually getting on fb and taking a chance on wasting any time there. As for Instagram, I'll see you all next week. I set my account to public, in case anyone I meet here follows me, I don't want to ignore their requests for a week! Have a good week, my friends! #bcojoe_in 2d
  •   j0momma I forgot all about that Joe... You still need any financial help? I'm not going to be on as much either. We have VBS this week. We had close to 200 kids on our first night 2d
  •   bethnash37 Bless you in your endeavours dear Joe 😎 9h

bcojoe I was tagged by @shelbylynn1994 to post a picture with my favorite Bible verse. I was trying to narrow it down to one, and I decided to post one that has been really speaking to me lately. I've just been thinking how, no matter how good of an example I try to be, there is always (ALWAYS!) room for improvement. I hear young people saying things about others, and I want to quote this verse every time I hear something, but then I ask myself what I might've said in passing about someone today. I think about those last three words in this scripture... I need to live it before I preach it, because they are listening. #bcojoe_in 3d

  •   mrssmet Awesome 3d
  •   bcojoe Thank you, my friends! I didn't get very many good pics. I was playing around with a few apps though. This started out as a 2 second time lapse video, I wish I'd had the patience to just let it run longer, to create a longer video. Of course, the 2 second video was much faster than this, so I slowed it enough to make it a 6 second video. Then I rendered that video in 3 different ways, creating a total length of more than 15 seconds for Instagram. I just used picplaypost to add the song at the right break points for each clip, then added the clips one at a time to the Instagram post. So where you hear the slightly lower volume in the music (and probably out of sync slightly at the transition), that's where the new clip starts. If you watch it over and over, you can see the different effect between the first 6 seconds, second 6 seconds, and the end. And you might see that the fireworks are the same for each clip, just the effect is different. @j0momma @mustangawesome @mrssmet 3d

bcojoe Here are the 28 shots of this dandelion that I saved (crop of the original, and 27 edits). I normally don't save that many edits, but I started jumping from Snapseed to AfterFocus, and I got carried away. Then at the end, it was hard to choose which one to post. Some of them would obviously be discarded immediately, but I included them here anyway. There are 4 or 5 here (including the original, which is the first shot) that I really like. #bcojoe_in 5d

bcojoe Mowing my back yard a few weeks ago... Isn't it amazing how some things suddenly come to life in the last moments before the sun goes down over the horizon? They can look almost the same all day long, then change completely in those few moments. Even though I was losing precious daylight, I had to jump off my mower and take pics of these dandelions. I had so many edits of this one shot, I may post a flipagram later with the original shot and my favorites. #bcojoe_in 5d

  •   jokasertic Show ! 6d
  •   j0momma Can't be, I know you. You have at least 50 more pix 5d
  •   bcojoe Thank you, @jokasertic ! 5d
  •   bcojoe You're probably right, Kevin! If you want the whole truth about the best of these shots... I cheated! I took soooo many shots of it, and one 34 second video. I used one or two shots, but the others were screen captures from the video. It's so hard to get focused shots of anything moving, with this macro lens. With the video, it moves in and out of the tiny focus area, then I can just screen capture the shot I want. I guess it would be more accurate to say I used the tools I had available, but it is always frustrating to not be able to get a good shot! @j0momma 5d
  •   j0momma I know... I have been doing the same thing... Find good pix in the videos but video pix aren't good quality... 5d

  •   ronwilsonphotography What are you shooting with Joe? 4d
  •   bcojoe iPhone 5 with a cheapo macro lens on these. A few of my pics are with my Sony A37, but the majority are just my iPhone. And I usually edit with Snapseed. @ronwilsonphotography 4d
  •   ronwilsonphotography Never heard of snap seed! 4d
  •   bcojoe It was $5 when I first got it, but I believe it's free now. For iPhone or Android. :-) @ronwilsonphotography 4d
  •   ronwilsonphotography Cool I just downloaded it! 4d
  •   bcojoe Some people get frustrated with it at first. And my process won't be the same as everyone's, but this is what it usually is... (Once you've familiarized yourself with the basics of adjusting each tweak)... I start with Drama, more often Drama 2 (by tapping on the star) than the others. You have to be careful not to add too much on the filter strength setting, but you'll see that pretty quickly. And you can go 100% on some pics, but not most. Then I sometimes go to HDR Scape, but not always. Then Tune Image. Here, you can get distinctly different results, just by increasing or decreasing ambience to 100% or -100%, and same thing with some of the other sub settings here. Once I'm done here, I'm sometimes done. Or I might darken the edges (and sometimes blur a bit) with Center Focus. Those are my basics, although I sometimes use Vintage. I used to use Grunge a lot more than I ever do now. And Selective Adjust comes in handy sometimes too. You just have to play with it. Have fun! @ronwilsonphotography 4d

bcojoe I was going to do another video slide show of a few of these caterpillar shots, but videos don't get half the likes that pics get, so I guess I'll just post them individually... And speaking of likes, I'm over 700 followers, and it's been a looooong time since I've had even 70 likes (10%) on a picture. I'm going to be taking 8 or 9 days off from Instagram starting next Monday, while I'm counseling at 2 church camps. After I come back off that hiatus, I will be trimming my followers list considerably. I'm not complaining or begging for more likes, but it's just... If I don't ever remember seeing your name in the list of likes on ANY of my pics, then what is the point of keeping you among my followers, other than to artificially inflate my ego with a meaningless number? #bcojoe_in 1w
  •   bcojoe Thank you, Deleena! @deleenamccoy 1w
  •   bcojoe Thank you, Desy! @mrssmet 1w
  •   s_i_lina I just went through all my followers (might be tricky for you) and blocked the ones that had been inactive for 9+ weeks or something. Some hadn't been on for over a year! There definitely are lots of way to do it tho :) good luck 1w
  •   s_i_lina And also the ones I never recognized/were just spam accounts. 1w
  •   bcojoe Oh, ok... So by inactive, you mean they hadn't posted in 9 weeks or something? Even then, I guess if you recognized someone who had liked your stuff during that time (but not posted anything of their own), you could still spare them. @s_i_lina 1w
  •   s_i_lina Yep exactly! 1w
  •   j0momma Sounds like a plan 1w

bcojoe Crops of four separate (Snapseed edited) macro shots of a leafhopper bug that was crawling around in my arm hair yesterday. These little critters are about the size of a grain of rice, and usually jump when they feel threatened. But he was happy playing in the hair on my arm, and I was happy to let him, at least until I got a few decent pics. #bcojoe_in 1w
  •   bcojoe Thank you, Hayden! @krippy_kr3me 1w
  •   deleenamccoy How did you get so close 1w
  •   bcojoe Thank you, Deleena! I answered your question on the other pic. I talked about my macro lens in the caption of that sunset/cobweb pic. @deleenamccoy 1w

  •   sundevil1169_ru Very cool macro though 7d
  •   bcojoe Thank you, Rod! And that's why I put "SILENT VIDEO" on the location tag, so people wouldn't think their sound wasn't working. :-) @sundevil1169_ru 7d

bcojoe Setting sun, through a cobweb on my mirror last night, as I was getting in my truck to leave. I know I've preached this before, but y'all should get on Amazon or eBay and pick up a set of lenses (fisheye, wide, macro). They attach in various ways now, so just pick what works best for you. The ones I use now just clamp on like a clothespin. The set costs around $10, and I carry them in my pocket in the microfiber bag that was included. A lot of shots get labeled as "macro" shots, but a macro shot with this accessory lens means that you are close enough that the caterpillar is probably gonna take a left turn and touch the lens, the cobweb will momentarily touch the lens when the breeze changes directions unexpectedly. You see the results here, but I know (unless you've experienced it yourself) you don't really picture just how close I am to the subject. To me, there's no picture that is more fun to take than a good macro, because I often have to take dozens of shots just to get one in good focus, and more importantly because it provides a view of something that you'll never see with the naked eye. #bcojoe_in 1w

bcojoe Inspiration credit to @melody_heart for getting me out of my chair to come take pictures of this caterpillar she found. I couldn't decide between the original and my edit. Then I realized that I'm not going to crop any off the top, and barely any off the bottom, so I might as well post them both side by side (rather than choose one, then put bars on the sides of the picture to make it 1:1 for Instagram). #bcojoe_in 1w

bcojoe I was standing in the men's clothing section at Kmart yesterday, and was responding to a snapchat with a shot very similar to this one (without the finger pointing), when I discovered that I was standing directly below the watchful eye of Big Brother! •   bcojoe That's right, Taylor! The one I sent you was framed better though, but I didn't save it. I did save it, that's why I know it's better. But it had "me" and an arrow drawn on it, so I didn't want to use it here. :-/ @teeweans 2w
