being_em_lukic Just got home after an amazing weekend in Seattle (I've taken a bunch of photos which I'll slowly go thru and upload over the next few days). One of the last things we did was go to a park about a kilometre from Kurt Cobain's house where he ended his life. Some people have used the park as a shrine to him as he doesn't have a grave.
Lyrics and messages are scrawled over the benches. Sadly most of them have recently been painted over - I really have no idea why. The paint is merely a fresh canvass upon which to write fresh words. I don't really see the difference between sticking a plaque on a bench and people respectfully writing their own thoughts.
Around the main bench, you can see the remnants of decaying flowers - probably left there on the 20th anniversary of his death a couple of months back.
The area he lived in was kinda strange. Some beautiful big houses but surrounded by some of the worst roads I've encountered since driving in Eastern Europe.
Overall a thoroughly surreal experience.
